“How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?” ~ Romans 10:14-15 ~ Have you been passionate about anything since you were young? I have. I’m not talking about the obvious stuff — like your favorite foods and desserts. I’m talking about activities that get you motivated. The things you will always say “yes” to when the opportunity presents itself. Maybe it’s riding a motorcycle — or playing a favorite sport — or spending hours on a favorite hobby. Whatever it is, I’m pretty sure that just thinking about it gets you pumped up. Your whole body begins to change. You’re thinking about getting involved. You won’t mind the time, money or energy spent to participate. You’re getting pumped up. One of my favorite activities has been evangelism. That has been true since as early as Jr. High School — I know, that term is old-school now, but I attended O’Farrell Jr. High School in San Diego way back in the day! Even before that, I can remember going with my Royal Ambassadors church group to Tijuana, Mexico to share the gospel in some very poor places. During my teen years I did Christian Puppetry in churches, schools, malls and parks. I did street evangelism on Sunset Blvd. in the late 60’s and in Queens, New York in 1971. I love one-on-one evangelism — but I also love mass-evangelism. There is something about a large crowd of people gathered to hear the gospel proclaimed and being a part of seeing large numbers of people come to salvation. To see and hear Billy Graham or Luis Palau preach in person, to be on the field counseling those coming down from their seats to make a decision for Christ. Now that gets me pumped up! I’m not an evangelist. Not by my spiritual gifting. Not by my calling. I am a Pastor/Teacher. That’s not a bad thing. That’s a God thing. Through the Holy Spirit, God gifts each of us as He chooses. However, that does not mean that we can’t enjoy being part of the process of leading people one-on-one to Christ, and assisting in mass-evangelism events anytime we have the chance — even if we’re not the “evangelist”.

So, if you’re like me, you are pumped up that this Sunday evening an “evangelist” will be in the house at FSBCPV. Richard Hight — Evangelist — Artist — Illustrator — will be here, along with his wife, Marty. We are in for a great blessing. Not just entertainment, but a chance to participate in the joy of evangelism. The Hights are a truly gifted couple who are making a world-wide impact for the Kingdom. Now is the time to get pumped up about reaching some of our unsaved friends, neighbors, co-workers and families. Beyond this weekend, we have another opportunity coming soon. On June 11th, HARVEST AMERICA is coming to Arizona. This is part of the Evangelism Ministry of Pastor Greg Laurie and the church he pastors in Southern California. This will be a one night event at the University of Phoenix Stadium. It is also being driven by our Southern Baptist North American Mission Board (NAMB) as the CROSSOVER ARIZONA Event for the meeting of our Convention taking place that week in Phoenix. Tens of thousands will fill that building, and we’re praying that twenty thousand or more will be saved. It will be shown live on Simulcast around our state and across the county. Not sure what to expect? Think Billy Graham Crusade — stadium — huge choir — top music artist — great salvation preaching — crowds flowing onto the field to find salvation or rededication — hundreds of Christian counselors from our churches — and all with a 21st century flair! How can we not get pumped up about that? You will be hearing much more about this Crusade event. I have asked Frank Resetar to be our Church Facilitator. He will be keeping us up-to-date on what to expect, and when and where to get trained and volunteer. For now, just put it on your radar and begin to pray. There is a lot going on inside of the walls right now here at FSBCPV. That’s a good thing. At the same time, however, we must not forget that we are always called to preach outside of the walls as well. Afterall, that’s where the vast majority of the unsaved still are — outside of our walls. Blessings on your week as you consider venturing into the arena of evangelism. You might just find out that it will be something that will pump you up! Pastor Terrell P.S. Some of you have found your way outside of our walls lately and inside of the walls of Granville Elementary School. You have been serving each Tuesday afternoon in the Child Evangelism Fellowship Good News Club we sponsor. It has started with a bang since its mid-January launch. Already many kids have made professions of faith. It is going so well that we are already in need of at least 2 or 3 more workers. Talk to Pastor Frank or Bill Vogel for information on how you can get involved.

WELCOME TEAM (part of our First Impressions) Excerpts from Roger Fields’ essay on ‘Turning Spectators into Participants’ Bob was bored. Sitting in his house with his 3 kids on New Year’s Day, he wondered what to do on a day for someone who doesn’t watch football. He decided to do something crazy! He started a neighborhood parade. He invited his neighbors to join the parade with only one rule: no one was allowed to watch the parade. He asked to close their windows if they decided not to participate. It was a hit and now after 20 years it is famous. This illustrates God’s style. The Bible is His journal about how He involves people. God had ordinary people participate in his purposes. Except for creation, He rarely did anything by Himself. Think of the following people whom God used: Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Jonah, Mary & Joseph, His disciples, the Apostle Paul, et.al. God turned these “spectators” into participants.

Today there is a lot of watching and sitting going on in the church. I would like to encourage you to become a participant, especially with children. The 4 most powerful words a child can hear from you is ‘I need a volunteer’. Children don’t like to sit; they like to do something, anything, Anything. . .but sit. Because of this, we need adults who will volunteer to help children learn through doing. To Volunteer please contact Pastor Frank 928-772-7218 or 928-830-9934 (Cell). Thank you! 2+2: The following page(s) contain a campus map with the schedule for the services and Bible study classes with room #’s beginning March 5th. Sincerely in Christ, Pastor Frank

IT’S A BIRTHDAY PARTY Save the date, February 12th, for Pastor Terrell’s birthday party.

Our pastor’s birthday was really February 4th but we will celebrate on February 12th with a pie potluck. We have it on good authority that our pastor never met a pie he didn’t like with the exception of Rhubarb, but if you like it, bring it.

Don’t miss your chance to experience Visualmpact!

Sunday, February 12th 6:00 p.m.

We will celebrate after the evening service, in the Fellowship Hall, come enjoy some pie and celebrate our pastor.
