“Now about spiritual gifts, brothers, I do not want you to be ignorant… There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men. Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good… All these are the work of one and the same Spirit, and he gives them to each one, just as he determines.” ~ 1 Corinthians 12:1-11 ~ This past week has been invigorating for me. I have had a bunch of meetings — that tends to happen the first week of most months — but they didn’t drain me, rather, they recharged my batteries! Not only that, we have had (and are having) two major outreach events here. I was reminded over and over that here at FSBCPV we are a church with ONE HEART and MANY PASSIONS. Let me explain what I mean. We have ONE HEART. We have one heart for God. We desire a personal relationship with Him. Jesus is our first love. We have a heart for worship. We have a heart for His Word. We have a heart for prayer. We have a heart for one another in the body. We have a heart for the lost. We have a heart for our community. We have a heart for the world. Quite literally, the heart-beat of our church is Jesus Christ! We are of ONE HEART, but we are also a body of MANY PASSIONS. As the Apostle Paul explained in 1 Corinthians 12, the Holy Spirit — the One who indwells our very bodies — has gifted each of us for service to others. Paul reminds us that “to each one” of us, God has given what we need to serve Him and to minister to others. We do not all possess the same gifts. Each of us is uniquely formed by Christ and gifted by His Spirit. It is that giftedness which plays out in our collective MANY PASSIONS.

To borrow from Pastor Rick Warren and his book, The Purpose Driven Life, we are all given a unique SHAPE out of which we serve. Our MANY PASSIONS come directly from our SHAPE. So what is this SHAPE? It is an acrostic for the following: Spiritual Gifts (Given by the Holy Spirit) Heart (Your desires, hopes, dreams, ambitions, affections) Abilities (The natural talents you were born with) Personality (Your unique DNA and how you relate to the world) Experiences (Your own unique story of family, educational, vocational, spiritual, ministry and even painful experiences) God uses the whole of your SHAPE to serve Him and the world around you. Over the past week and a half, I have witnessed those MANY PASSIONS at work here at FSBCPV — As we worshipped together, we experienced musical and technical abilities at work. In our First Impression Team we are seeing the vocational experiences of many individuals on display for the good of the body. I met with a new Media Team that have a passion for “geeky” technology, knowing somehow it will minister to and reach others for Christ. I met with sixteen Deacons who have a passion born out of their Spiritual Giftedness to minister to others in the body who are hurting or in need of help. All types of PASSION was on display at Trunk or Treat last Monday night — and right now as I am writing to you, this year’s Christmas Cottage has just opened it’s doors, 7 minutes ago, to the public. People working out of their hearts, abilities, personalities and experiences to share the love of Christ in many unique, artistic ways. So you see, we are indeed of ONE HEART and MANY PASSIONS. If you are longing for a place to express your SHAPE — a place to express the PASSIONS that God had designed you with, then look no further. We want to be that place in your life. Come join with us as we live out our MANY PASSIONS, always fueled by ONE HEART! Blessings on your week as you discover new and exciting ways to be a person of PASSION for Jesus Christ. Pastor Terrell

P.S. Just another reminder that Veterans Day is this coming Friday, November 11th and our Veterans Recognition Service will be next Sunday morning, November 13th. If you are a Veteran, we encourage you to wear your uniform or something that identifies your branch of service that day. P.P.S. Please do not forget to vote this coming Tuesday. Your Faith Votes do count! “Nobody will ever deprive the American people of the right to vote except the American people themselves — and the only way they could do this is by not voting.” — Franklin D. Roosevelt, 1882 (Thirty-Second President of the United States)

Growing Seminar: This Sunday is week 2 of our Growing Seminar for four of our adult classes – Puffer’s, Steadfast, Singles and Marshall’s. If you missed last week, you can catch up; we have a book for you and will review a little before moving forward. Class begins at 9:45 & ends at 10:45 am. See you there! Trunk Or Treat: Thank you Casey and Denise Danner for a job well-done in putting everything together! Thanks also to everyone who participated – from candybringers to trunks full of candy, from cakes to cupcakes & brownie providers, from sound personnel to game leaders, from cooks to servers, from Candyland operators to parents and children, from Support Staff to all helpers! It was a great evening and we already had some children who were here Monday night come to Clubs on Wednesday night! One of our regular clubbers, Katie, received Jesus Christ as Savior and is considering baptism! Sincerely in Christ, Pastor Frank
