“I’ve wiped the slate of all your wrongdoings. There’s nothing left of your sins. Come back to me, come back. I’ve redeemed you.” ~ Isaiah 44:22 (The Message) ~ It’s been said that “New Year’s Day is every man’s birthday.” We’re just a day or two away from changing the calendar as this goes out to you, so we’ve all got a birthday coming up. We’ll all have a chance to reflect a little bit on the past 366 days and, hopefully, focus a lot on the next 365 days. If we choose, we can wipe our slate clean from the past and begin a new day.

There’s nothing special about January 1, of course, but there is something special about the decision to break away from old habits and develop new ones. It can be done any day — and January 1 is as good a day as any. The important thing is to devote oneself to doing better and trying harder. It was said of Hezekiah... “In everything he undertook in the service of God’s temple and in obedience to the law and the commands, he sought his God and worked wholeheartedly. And so he prospered.” ~ 2 Chronicles 31:21 ~ Here’s a great idea. Choose to refocus your life and center your New Year resolutions in this verse — that you may seek God more and to serve him better. Everyone of us can benefit from a refocus on what God is doing and bringing our lives into tandem with His.

“I Will Walk” Offerings and Connection Cards will be collected in the Offering Boxes located just inside the two main entrances into our Worship Center.

Have you chosen a reading plan for this new year yet?

In the same vein, every church can benefit from taking time to refocus as well from time to time. For First Southern, 2021 is one of those times. Earlier this month, we voted unanimously to adopt our Refocus team’s recommendations. After months of prayer, study and hard work — we are ready to begin rolling out a new trajectory for our church. There is still much hard work ahead — but we now have what we believe is a God-given vision for our next five to seven years. continued

That vision — which will drive the directions all of our ministries will take — is simply stated in the following statement:

First Southern Baptist Church of Prescott Valley is… A Life-Giving Church — Giving Life. In January, we will begin to unpack that statement, both here in our CONNECTIONS Newsletter and in our Sunday Morning Worship Services.
