There is not a Sunday that goes by that Barbara and I are not asked about our daughter Courtney. We know that the reason we are asked about her is that you are continuing to pray for her. You have chosen to join in her journey through cancer as prayer partners — our family is ever-so-grateful that you have!

Life has been a little hectic around our home and around church, and I have not had the opportunity until now to share her most recent Facebook post with you. Courtney posted the following on August 22nd. “Exactly one year ago today, I was told I had breast cancer. That day changed the course of my life here on earth forever. I spent today at yet another doctor’s appointment (although they are becoming fewer and further apart) — and then had lunch with a great friend.

I’ve had a lot of people ask me how this year has changed me. It’s so hard to answer. This was definitely the hardest year of my life. I’m definitely not the same person I was a year ago. I’m more grateful. I’m more appreciative. I’m stronger. I’m ready to really start living life again. I probably have a little PTSD.

SUNDAY SCHEDULE
This last year has changed me but I now have a firm knowledge that it hasn’t changed my God. He’s still good. He’s still in control. He is still faithful. With God I faced my worst nightmare. With Him I will face my future. I pray that future is cancer free, but He doesn’t guarantee us no pain only faithfulness. What we do with that pain is our choice. I chose joy this last year — NOT because it was easy but because the Lord is my joy and I wanted to honor His goodness. continued ...

While cancer changed my earthly life — Jesus changed the course of my eternal life. None of us are guaranteed a tomorrow — whether you have had cancer or not. If you don’t know where you are spending eternity, please just send me a message. If you take anything from my cancer journey, please let it be that Jesus loves you. ❤ And lastly — ‘thank you’ just isn’t enough for the prayers and support and encouragement and meals and EVERYTHING that was done for us this year! We love you all and could not have gotten through this year without you! ❤❤ #ichosejoy” Blessings on your week as you decide to choose joy in the most difficult circumstances you will face this week. Pastor Terrell, Barbara and Courtney
