Life Groups: Brad + Lisa Hyde
BRAD+LISA HYDE: LIFE GROUPS
A year ago, when asked to lead a Life Group, Brad Hyde stepped into the game and didn’t look back. “It has been my calling for 36 years now to serve in this capacity. When Mike Smith (Discipleship Minister) asked me to serve, I was very happy to do so, as I am not content to sit on the sidelines when there is work to be done. I view lay ministry as a football game. There are 22 on the field desperately in need of rest and 20,000 in the stands desperately in need of exercise. Put me in, Coach.” Brad and Lisa Hyde moved to the area and joined First Woodway about two years and were both ready to serve again. They now lead a Life Group alongside Eric and Candi Upton. Brad and Eric rotate months to teach the lesson. “Our Life Group is called ‘The Empty Nesters.’ Anyone who is at the stage of life where the house is a little more empty and quieter than it used to be would be a great fit with our life group.” Brad and Lisa both view Life Groups as a foundational piece in a church this size. “This is where lasting friendships are made. It is also where spiritual growth occurs along with biblical knowledge. Within the confines of the life group we are able to share life with each other. I think of the Greek term ‘Koinonia’ which involves not only Christian fellowship and communion, but also the sharing of joys, sorrows... just doing life together.” If you are an “empty nester” and have not connected to a Life Group - we encourage you to check this one out. This group meets at 9:00 am in Room 343. For more info, contact Mike Smith at msmith@firstwoodway.org or Brad Hyde at W5BK@live.com.
