Sound-absorbing textiles that serve as functional and decorative elements

A range of Christian Fischbacher‘s innovative textiles have been specifically developed to be used for acoustic solutions. Depending on the room and usage, they reduce noise and help create excellent room acoustics with no disturbance from long echoes or background noise.

The sound-absorbing fabrics can be used in offices, meeting pods, room-in-room systems, hotels, conference rooms or private homes. Made into curtains, blinds, acoustic panels, wall coverings, textile room dividers and stage curtains, they help to create the ideal acoustics for every room.

Soft and fibrous surfaces convert sound waves, whereas hard materials and smooth surfaces made from glass, stone, steel or aluminium reflect them. Sound-absorbing materials are required if rooms are particularly noisy, have a lot of hard surfaces that reflect sound, or create an echo.

Using the right materials, you can reduce sound intensity and dramatically improve the acoustics in a room.

Each fabric has its own sound absorption features depending on weight, composition, surface, design and weave. Christian Fischbacher fabrics are tested for sound absorption in the lab according to EN ISO 354. The sound absorption coefficient is classified from A to E as per ISO 11654:

A extremely absorptive, sound absorption coefficient αw: 0.90 ... 1.0

B very highly absorptive, sound absorption coefficient

C highly absorptive, sound absorption coefficient

D absorptive, sound absorption coefficient

w: 0.80 ... 0.85

BENU OSCAR 14497

BENU OSCAR is a recycled fabric derived from postconsumer PET bottles. The drapery and upholstery fabric is permanently flame-retardant due to an additive that is an integral part of the yarn used in its production.

In order to produce recycled polyester yarn, discarded PET plastic bottles are collected, cleaned, ground into small pieces and then melted down before being spun into highquality monofilament yarns. The use of recycled polyester yarn makes sense not only because of the self-evident meaningfulness of recycling a petroleum-based material, but also because the production of BENU recycled polyester yarn requires about 90% less energy and 60% less water than the production of regular polyester. BENU fabrics serve as an important contribution to the protection of our environment.

BENU CHECK 14678

In an environmentally sustainable process, new yarns are obtained for BENU CHECK from recycled garments from the fashion industry. The material is sorted by colour, eliminating the energy-consuming process of dyeing. Only the best textile fibres are carded and spun into a new, highquality yarn. By reducing waste water, dyes and chemicals, the environment is protected and precious energy is saved. The modern check twill fabric from BENU CHECK can be used both as an upholstery and a curtain fabric and it has high acoustic values.

BENU REMIX 14454

BENU REMIX is a recycled wool cloth woven with a slightly mottled yarn, which gives it an elegant mélange look. The fabric is made from recycled textile waste from the fashion industry. The waste material used is sorted by colour, ground into its original fibrous state, carded and re-spun into a new, high-quality recycled yarn. This process eliminates the energy-consuming process of dyeing, thus reducing waste water, dyeing chemicals and energy. BENU fabrics serve as an important contribution to the protection of our environment.

BENU RUSTICO 14722

BENU RUSTICO FR is a double-width opaque curtain fabric with a slightly grainy, almost woolly structure. The soft FR quality can be used in the contract sector as well as in all private rooms.

The woven polyester is made from recycled PET bottles and is GRS certified.

Due to its high lightfastness, mold and mildew resistance and other qualities, BENU TALENT FR also works as a great outdoor fabric. In order to produce recycled polyester yarn, discarded PET plastic bottles are collected, cleaned, ground into small pieces and then melted down before being spun into highquality monofilament yarns. AMMIRATO is the velvet for the commercial sector. Polyester is used as a flame-retardant pile thread and has a shimmer very similar to silk. A specific treatment during the finishing process stabilises the fibres and makes the surface of the cloth appear uniform. The result is a durable flame-retardant washable velvet.

Atomic is a double-width, flame-retardant fabric in a satin weave. Two different colours of yarn are used as warp and weft threads, creating an iridescent effect. Depending on the movement and drape of the fabric, the light is sometimes reflected by the warp and sometimes the weft.

VIP 14470

VIP is a knitted plush. It is created by incorporating an additional thread into knitted fabric that forms small loops on the surface. A second process cuts these loops to form the velvet-like surface. The fine ground cloth gives VIP its light drape.
