THE LINE OF SUCCESS: FISCHER RACE CODE The material revolution has been with us now for two seasons. We have also driven forward our developments in accordance with these requirements. The race plate plays a key role in turns: it makes sure that the skier’s power is directed to where it should go – the centre of the ski. And this will be Fischer’s approach in the upcoming season, with Race Booster revolutionising power transfer. The idea for the new plate came from trying to ski the long radiuses specified by the FIS faster and more manoeuvrable again without impairing the radius of the ski in the process. Fischer’s magic formula: faster and stronger flex! This is achieved through the completely new design of race plate. Instead of a rigid construction the flexible, three-part design enables maximum ski flex at the centre of the ski resulting in a previously unthinkable concentration of power for faster initiation and, as a result, shorter turns. The acceleration out of the turn is enormous thanks to precise power transfer. This is what we call the Race Booster effect.

As a result of the stronger ski flex through Race Booster, faster and shorter turn radiuses will be possible in GS despite the FIS ruling and long ski radiuses. Besides our innovations in the ski sector, we mustn’t forget our VACUUM FIT models. These are now being used in the fourth World Cup season – with resounding success. Top quality through innovation and technologies: Fischer has attached great importance to these values from day one. You will find all the information regarding the new equipment and our latest innovations on our racing database from autumn 2014. Take a look at the RACE CODE section on our website for exclusive information on racing. Let me take this opportunity to say thank you to everyone who chooses our racing products. You are in good company, together with numerous world champions and World Cup winners. I wish you every success and a great deal of pleasure with our 14l15 racing line.

SIEGI VOGLREITER Alpine Racing Director

FISCHER RACING CAMP

SWITZERLAND

MICHAEL VON GRÜNIGEN RACE SKI CAMP 2014 Enjoy skiing with a passion for racing - this is exactly the message Michael von Grünigen has for children aged between nine and fourteen at the Fischer Junior Race Camp in Switzerland. And it would be hard to find anyone more qualified to do so than the former Giant Slalom champion, who himself is the father of three sons (all enthusiastic skiers). Michael von Grünigen on the idea behind the Race Camp: “I’ve made a point of concentrating on children who are at an age where they are normally not organised in squads that have their own camps. I aim more to show them how things will be later on when they make it into a team and give them an insight into the daily routine of training and competition so they are motivated to carry on. This is only possible if you show them the beauty of skiing and competition and if they enjoy it all. The camp will not only be about skiing gates, we will focus on developing technique and also put in some park and pipe practice when the chance arises.”

TECHNOLOGY

RACE BOOSTER

THE NEW RACE BOOSTER EXTREMELY FAST THROUGH THE TURN The race plate plays a key role in turns: it makes sure that the skier's power is directed to where it should go – in the turn. And this is precisely Fischer's approach, with Race Booster revolutionising power transfer.

UNIQUE CONSTRUCTION FOR UNPARALLELED FLEX. Everyone looks for a way to ski turns more aggressively – and Fischer has found it. The magic formula is: faster and stronger flex! This is achieved through a completely new design of race plate. Instead of a rigid construction the flexible, three-part design enables maximum ski flex at the centre of the ski resulting in a previously unthinkable concentration of power for faster and shorter turn initiation.

THE FIRST CHOICE FOR HIGHEST AMBITIONS! Fischer RACE CODE means direct access to exclusive World Cup technology. This is where, in collaboration with athletes and ski technicians, innovations are developed which first have to prove their worth in the technological "arms race" in the professional Alpine competitions before they make it into this top segment of series production.

SKIS WITH WORLD CUP TUNING

RACE CODE is your guarantee of the technological edge direct from the Fischer Race Department. All innovations have been developed together with the athletes and the people responsible in the World Cup. To best satisfy the tough requirements which are

HOLE SKI TECHNOLOGY Lower mass inertia moment thanks to less weight in the ski‘s tip and tail for improved oscillation behaviour, perfectly smooth running and better turning and control.

found there, skis, boots and bindings in the RACE CODE line are tuned perfectly to each other. RACE CODE guarantees the technological edge for professionals and ambitious sportspeople.

WORLDCUP TUNING Edge strength, material and angle correspond to World Cup standards. Special base grinding finish and structur (S 15) create a completely plane base surface with extremely good gliding properties.

100% FIT. MAXIMUM PERFORMANCE. A FITTING PERFORMANCE IN ALL AREAS – VACUUM FIT VACUUM FIT is the technology which makes it possible for the first time to adapt the shell of the ski boot completely to the anatomy of any foot – in a mere 20 minutes. VACU-PLAST material and a special process achieve a fit which is also used successfully by top athletes in the Alpine Ski World Cup. The benefits are clear to see: Less weight (- 15%), no more pressure points, adjustable foot width (+/- 5 mm, temperature flex better than conventional PU, vibration damping, ideal power transfer, faster ski response.

THREE STEPS TO THE RIGHT FIT

EVEN MORE PUNCH THANKS TO PHATT MAXX Phatt Maxx is the widest Velcro on the market, guaranteeing optimum boot adjustment in line with your personal skiing style and use. Your benefit: maximum power and pressure transfer with every setup!

WARM-UP

PRE-FIT

•H eat up the shell to 80 degrees Celsius in the oven

• Insert foot into preheated shell • Put on cooling Pad and Compression Pad • Adjust the stand position on the VACUUM FIT Station

PERFECT FIT UND COOL DOWN • Adjust the entire boot to the anatomy of the foot using compressed air • Use the Cooling Pad to cool it down

FLAT, FLATTER, DEFLECTOR Deflector is currently the flattest buckle on the market. The optimum width gives you maximum tension. V-Flex recesses keep the boot flexible and guarantee outstanding power transfer for maximum performance. .

SKI TUNING

CARE AND PREPARATION PREPARATION - FILING EDGES 1. Remove the sidewall: The sidewall ridge is filed away so the edge can be sharpened more easily.

2. Filing the edges: the idea edge angle for the sides of racing skis is 86 – 87° for perfect edge grip. Fischer racing skis have an edge angle of 0.3° (Slalom and Giant Slalom) and 1.0 – 1.3° (Super G and Downhill) when they leave the company. Filing jigs can be obtained in specialist sports shops. Step 1 rough file, step 2 fine finish using diamond file.

2. Apply wax: The wax is melted using a waxing iron and dripped onto the base of the ski. Note: The waxing iron is at the correct temperature when the wax melts uniformly without forming smoke.

3. Iron on wax: The temperature needs to be set to between 110 and 130°C. The waxing iron is drawn across the base at a constant speed in the skiing direction. Note: Do not iron backwards and forwards or concentrate on one spot because there is a risk of the base overheating. 4. Allow the ski to cool for 5 to 10 minutes before removing excess wax. Use a sharp perspex edge to remove the wax by applying constant, gentle pressure in the direction of skiing.

PREPARATION - WAXING 1. Clean the base: Dirt, dust and wax remnants can be removed using a cleaning solvent obtainable from specialist sports shops. Important: Before moving on to the next steps, dry the ski well (leave it outside for at least 15 minutes). An alternative is hot waxing (iron on wax and immediately scrape off soft gliding wax).

5. Brush the running surface with a nylon and/or combibrush in the direction of skiing. For the best possible gliding results, the structure of the base must be brushed thoroughly to remove any residual wax.
