George Hinchliffe’s UKULELE ORCHESTRA OF GREAT BRITAIN

This celebrated group will bring its humour and virtuosity to Blackheath Halls on Thursday 23 March, 8pm. A successful musical juggernaut for four decades, uniting audiences from Tasmania to Svalbard, The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain continues to reinvent itself with classy new tunes, brilliant performers and fresh perspectives on classic rock, pop and beyond - all played on the wrong instruments; nothing but ukuleles in all the registers and sizes.

Witty, quirky, irreverent and sometimes a little bit twisted - praised by Bowie and Eno, promoted by the BBC and raved about by the New York Times, you can expect an evening of sheer entertainment from this all-singing, all-strumming group of seasoned performers.

The UOGB have played everywhere from pubs and village halls to Windsor Castle, Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House. Polite but not too serious, wicked yet tasteful, the Orchestra provides a memorable evening of laughter, musical delight and a thoughtful perspective on the conventions of popular music.
