Watts Creatives workshop: A Sense of Place with Tom Voyce: 15 February
Join 2017’s Sky Landscape Artist of the Year winner Tom Voyce for a day of sketching, exploring composition and painting across the Artist Village to find your own sense of place. Suitable for 13 – 18 year olds.

Des Oliver and The Atchison Quartet: What does it mean to be a black composer?
24 February
Acclaimed contemporary composer and film maker, Des Oliver will share a screening of excerpts from his landmark documentary series, Identity and the Anxiety of Influence. A discussion with Oliver and Watts Gallery’s Faces of Fame curator Dr Emily Burns will follow.
To conclude, enjoy a live performance of Oliver’s celebrated musical composition, The Diasporic Quartets, alongside works by Philip Herbert, Tunde Jegede and Dominque Le Gendre, performed by the leading ensemble The Atchison Quartet. Immerse yourself in this eclectic musical landscape that draws influence from the rich traditions of West African to classical music.

Young landscape artists Grace Ellen (returning to Watts Contemporary after featuring in Heartlands in January 2022) and Tom Voyce (winner of Sky Landscape Artist of the Year in 2017) show how the places around affect them, and how they distil the landscapes of Surrey, Cornwall and the USA into their beautiful paintings.
