Winter skin and menopause
Winter can be an especially disruptive time for skin and in particular menopausal skin. With the increase in dryness, loss of elasticity, sudden acne and redness (all common factors), d the cold and unpredictable temperatures to this and your skin can really suffer, be at its worst, leave you feeling helpless and at a loss with how to combat such symptoms.
It is common knowledge that all these skin changes are due to hormone depletion and imbalances, and whilst HRT (Hormone Replacement Therapy) can improve the condition of your skin (to a certain extent) it can’t always fix what has been lost or even allow you to continue reaping the benefits of the skin care products that you have been religiously using all along before menopause hit. In short, it is one of the best and most important times to overhaul your skin care routine and products with professional advice.
Partner at estetica clinics in Chertsey and Windsor and a full member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Parisa Bahramian has succeeded in her endeavour to become more than just a qualified pharmacist. With her passion for skincare and a huge amount of credentials to her name, Parisa cannot stress enough the importance of seeking out appropriate products and treatments that will enhance your changing skin tone, texture and elasticity at a time that can leave pre-menopausal and peri-menopausal women feeling very despondent.

Since qualifying as a pharmacist at Brighton University over 18 years ago Parisa Bahramian has combined her medical expertise with facial aesthetics and her desire to be at the forefront of any relevant cosmetic developments. In her estetica clinics she brings her patients tailor-made treatment plans whilst addressing their needs and requirements for maintenance and enhancements and she makes sure a full consultation is executed before anything comes to fruition. At appointments with her, her time is yours and the focus is solely on you. Always.
In a recent interview at her estetica clinic in Chertsey, Parisa highlighted that “As the largest organ in the human body, the skin is significantly affected by the dramatic decrease in hormone production and distribution brought about by the menopause which hugely impacts its many individual components. The menopause is highly responsible for the loss of dermal collagen and lipid (fat) production which instantly causes thinning of the dermic layers, diminished elasticity, increased dryness, texture and blemishes. In youth we hold many mechanisms which help with our maintenance and regeneration, but during menopause, these begin to subside and we age rapidly, visibly so in our skin.
HRT can reverse some of the internal biological factors brought about by the menopause by restoring some of the previous functions of the skin but this is by no means 100% restorative or effective. At our clinics we can aid this mechanically with some topical agents such as micro needling, chemical peels and hydrafacials, and also via the injection of incredible products such as Sculptra and Profhilo. We also have an amazing range of products that I tailor for your ‘take home’ skin care routine to continue day and night that compliment all the treatments we provide and totally transform your skin”.
The following procedures at estetica clinics, and performed by Parisa, are all worthy of a mention too when it comes to looking after menopausal skin as she explains:

“Microneedling encourages collagen production by taking advantage of the body’s natural healing response to trauma by using small, sterilised needles to prick the skin. The results, after multiple sessions, are smooth skin tissue and firm, toned skin.

Chemical peels reveal the more youthful skin underneath by removing dead skin cells and stimulating the growth of new skin cells via an applied chemical solution. An improvement in fine lines, wrinkles, acne scaring and other skin imperfections can also be seen in many cases.
Hydrafacials use a unique, patented VortexFusion delivery system to exfoliate, extract and hydrate skin.
Sculptra is an injectable collagen stimulant that contains poly-L-lactic acid which restores facial volume lost to ageing with long lasting results (up to four years).
Profhilo is a revolutionary moisturising treatment in the form of a unique hyaluronic acid injectable gel which stimulates the skin cell receptors to counteract skin laxity, improve firmness, boost and also hydrate skin - an amazing all-rounder.
Amongst our revolutionary procedures we are also home to many high performance machines which (coupled with a qualified professional) can really turn your skin around. For instance Tixel: a non-laser technology using only heat and motion for very impressive results in skin tightening and the improvement of scars. Intracel, another machine we use, is a micro-needling, fda approved, non-surgical device that is combined with radio frequency to ramp up collagen production, so has more benefits than micro needling alone”.
These are just a few examples of the many effective procedures available at estetica clinics and prove very popular and with outstanding results. But before Parisa proceeds with any treatment on her patients she first carries out a VISIA skin analysis which delivers a superior experience for her aesthetic and skin care consultations. By expertly capturing imagines with its most advanced software, Parisa can then determine skin type, classification, problem areas that aren’t visible to the naked eye and in turn create a bespoke skincare routine and package for you.
