RHS CHELSEA FLOWER SHOW PREVIEW
23 - 27 May 2023
The greatest flower show on earth returns to Royal Hospital Chelsea with stunning garden designs, gorgeous floral displays and exclusive shopping. The world’s most prestigious flower show is more than a century old, but RHS Chelsea still delivers new ideas in horticulture. It is the pinnacle of garden design.
RHS has revealed the garden line-up for 2023 from the best garden designers gathering to showcase cutting-edge design and ideas with inspiration, colour and innovation. Expect to be dazzled!
2023 SHOW GARDENS INCLUDE:
The Royal Tribute Garden – designed by Dave Green. Created to celebrate His Majesty King Charles III’s first visit to the show as the reigning monarch, the design aims to instill a sense of calm and reflection about the monarchy. The central space is a circular lawn area featuring a curved bench. The garden features several trees bringing a woodland feel to the space and includes a bronze sculpture of the King.
Centre for Mental Health’s The Balance Garden - designed by Wild City Studio: Designers Jon Davies & Steve Williams, built by Stewart Landscape Construction Ltd. The garden uses crushed site waste as aggregates producing a wealth of wildflowers, grasses and hardy shrubs and large concrete pieces reclaimed from waste salvage make up a central area overlooking a clear pool.
The Nurture Landscapes Garden - designed by Sarah Price, built by Crocus Ltd. The inspiration for the garden has been drawn from the paintings of Cedric Morris and plants collected and bred by Cedric at his garden in Hadleigh. Cedric became famous for both breeding and painting bearded iris, growing around 1000 new seedlings each year and producing at least 90 named varieties.
The Fauna & Flora Garden - designed by Jilayne Rickards, built by Living Landscapes. The garden maps the journey of an ecotourist on a gorilla trek, tracing a rough track through a succession of lush and changing landscapes. The garden aims to demonstrate the critical importance of protecting nature and how this can be best achieved by putting people and collaboration at the heart of conservation efforts.
Sanctuary Gardens include: The Boodles British Craft Garden - designed by Thomas Hoblyn, built by The Landscape Consultants. The garden celebrates British craft makers by using their skills. Features such as the arbour created by Cox London, which serves as the destination within the garden and the floating pool by water sculptor Bamber Wallis, which mimics raindrops dancing across the surface. Inspired by the PreRaphaelites’ stylised depiction of woodlands, the garden is filled with plants selected for their perfected forms.
