Luxury Surrey Hotel awarded Five Stars by The AA

Great Fosters has every reason to celebrate the new year. Just before Christmas the AA awarded the hotel its coveted five star rating. Rated and awarded by the AA’s professional inspectors Great Fosters is one of only 30 five star hotels in England outside London to hold this accolade. Ian Heath, Operations Director commented: ‘We’re thrilled that Great Fosters has been awarded five stars by The AA. This is the culmination of four years of investment in both the property and the team. Major refurbishments have taken place at the hotel since we purchased Great Fosters in 2018 and I am thrilled for Prem Kumar and his team that their passion, dedication and determination to offer our guests the highest standards of hospitality have been rewarded with this rating. It is the best start to 2023 that we could have wished for!’ alexanderhotels.co.uk/great-fosters telephone 01784 433 822 gfhotel@alexanderhotels.com

Great Fosters is steeped in royal history and if you haven’t yet visited it’s the perfect place in which to retreat from Winter. Turn into the drive to see a magnificent Tudor building complete with chimney pots and tower and enter through a traditional wicket door to a warm welcome and a roaring log fire.

The estate has plenty to offer with a new menu that includes some enticing vegan dishes too if you are partaking in Veganuary. We are looking forward to trying the wood fried beetroots with vegan burrata, toasted seeds and pickled walnut. Head Chef Michael Mealey has recently returned to Great Fosters and his new a la carte menu, focussing on good quality local ingredients used creatively, launches this month. The Estate Grill also offers a very good value midweek lunch & supper menu at £29.50 for two courses or £33.50 for three. Or why not book into the newly launched Tudor Pass which now has Alex Payne at the helm? The Tudor Pass offers a superb tasting menu (£120 per person) at lunchtime and in the evening from Wednesday to Saturday; the restaurant is intimate with only seven tables and you’ll find many of the dishes presented at your table by Alex and his team, thus bringing the kitchen into the restaurant (but without the usual noise!).

Afternoon tea at Great Fosters has been a longstanding tradition and with warming log fires a plenty you can enjoy scrumptious sandwiches, light as air scones and dainty patisserie in the cosiest of surroundings.
