By capturing movement and the shapes of the body to create new silhouettes / I started by investigating 3D sculptures which are composed of square angles and planes; what happens to these shapes when spread flat? / During this time, I was interviewing individuals with dyslexia, which led me to the question: ‘what happens when a shape or word warps into something else?’/ By investigating through self generated images and a conversation with a dancer, I explored how the body moves when in the motions of dance / I re-imagined what it might mean to interpret movement in the everyday / Clothing for the modern mover who might be an athlete, a yogi, a dancer, or just going through the everyday motions of living; what attributes does their clothing need to encompass? / Functionality, transformation, flexibility / I visually captured movement by pixelating existing images of Geoffrey Beene designs to inform my swatch development / Making techniques focused on combinations of sonic bonding and fusible technology / To enable the making of garments with minimal bulk that incorporate stretch and ease of wear/ Exploring the functionality of form and the relationship between the body, shape and movement I am proposing a new vision for Geoffrey Beene that addresses a modern mode of being, in which one moves through many spheres of active living
