What is IoT? Internet of Things, better known as IoT, is a network of smart devices which communicate with each other and the surrounding physical world. Smart sensors, smart appliances, smart wearable technologies and smart phones are considered IoT devices.

FACTS

Approximately 4.5 million IoT jobs are projected to be available by 2020. IoT technologies will increase the quality of life in terms of cost, convenience and reliability. About 20 billion IoT devices are projected to be in use by 2020.

Program Overview A degree in Internet of Things will transform a student into a technological expert who can manage, program, maintain and secure IoT devices in many critical areas such as energy transportation, health, aviation, infrastructure and hospitality.

Educational Goals Technology. Demonstrate hands-on expertise in selection, installation, customization and maintenance of state-of-the-art IoT devices and networks. Content. Apply knowledge of IoT to at least one related field. Communication. Effectively communicate ideas verbally in a professional presentation related to IoT and ideas in written and graphical form through a scientific report. Critical thinking. Analyze the legal and ethical implications of students' work and how the work can impact individuals, society and the environment.

120 Credit-Hour Degree Students with an associate's degree (AA) degree from a Florida accredited State college may be able to complete the Bachelor of Science degree in IoT with 60 credits.* *Consult with an FIU Electrical & Computer Engineering Academic Advisor for details.
