JOB DESCRIPTION Volunteer and Centres Manager Responsible to the Director General FLAC is a public interest law organisation which exists to promote the fundamental human right of equal access to justice for all. The role of the Volunteer and Centres Manager is to:
1. Promote and develop the involvement of volunteers in FLAC’s work including sourcing new volunteering opportunities for FLAC volunteers to enable FLAC to deliver on its objectives;
2. Manage the ongoing recruitment of volunteer legal advisors for legal advice centres and other aspects of FLAC’s work;
3. Ensure reliability continuity and professionalism of service at legal advice centres and in other aspects of FLAC’s work;
4. Link FLAC volunteers with the Public Interest Law Alliance (PILA) which also identifies volunteering opportunities for public interest lawyers;
5. Develop and organise training for volunteer legal advisors and all volunteers; 6. Develop and organise induction meetings for new volunteers and develop the information and materials for volunteers;
7. Ensure that volunteers are informed on FLAC’s mission and campaigns and that they operate an efficient and appropriate referral system to other organisations in particular to the Legal Aid Board; 8. Promote FLAC’s data collection programme amongst volunteers and Citizens Information Centres;
9. Ensure that volunteers are reimbursed for out-of-pocket expenses; 10. Ensure that volunteers adhere to FLAC’s Guidelines for Volunteers; 11. Liaise and meet with Development Managers and organisers at Citizens Information Centres to ensure effective running of legal advice centres;
12. Comply with FLAC’s Health and Safety policies and procedures; 13. Any other duties as reasonably may be required from time to time in connection with this post.
Person Specification The Volunteer and Centres Manager will have:

Significant volunteering experience (part-time/evenings/weekends).
•
At least 2 years management experience.
•
Experience of managing and developing volunteers.
•
A high standard of education.
•
Excellent interpersonal, communications and organisational skills.
•
The capacity to interact enthusiastically and effectively with a broad range of people.
•
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
•
The capacity to work well within a team.
Salary is negotiable and is commensurate with experience. Access to a car is essential for this position along with a full clean driving licence; mileage and expenses incurred in the course of this employment will be reimbursed.
