THE DEUCE TAKES COMMAND OF CAMP PATRIOT
TF 1-182 has officially landed and taken authority from the Florida National Guard On a cool Monday morning, the Soldiers of Kuwait Naval Base stood at attention LTC Rusher speaks at the Ceremony for a momentous occasion, a transfer of CSM Day and LTC Rusher unveil the unit’s flag authority ceremony where Soldiers of the 2-116th Florida National Guard were standing next to TF 1-182. The ceremony followed two weeks of training with the incumbent unit. Soldiers of TF 1-182 learned every facet of their positions, including everything from defending a port to ensuring the trash gets taken out by contractors on time. The ceremony also marked the transfer of authority to Charlie Company, who
will operate out of Camp Arifijan as Quick Reaction Force. Camp Arifijan, also known as AJ, is about 30 minutes north of Kuwait Naval Base and houses the 197th Fires Brigade Headquarters as well. The Transfer of Authority ceremony was unique in that TF 1-182 is among the first units to serve primarily under Operation New Dawn. TF 1-182 also has the rare privilege of working with Kuwaitis on a daily basis, as Camp Patriot is inside the Kuwaiti Naval Base. The ceremony was attended by senior members of forces in the area. This included Brigadier General Tooliatos, the Navy, the Coast Guard, the Army Divers, and the Kuwaiti Navy. As TF 1-182 is officially in charge of Camp Patriot, the future looks safe and bright for Kuwait.

After skimming the water and learning about the boats, the group went to meet and greet the residents of Camp Patriot. The Hooters girls handed out special coins and pins, while Brokedown Cadillac handed out CDs. Both groups signed posters for the Soldiers, Sailors and Guardians.
