INTRODUCTION ABOUT GOVTECH GovTech is SITA's 9th annual GovTech conference, now firmly established as South Africa’s premier event for key stakeholders involved in public sector ICT. GovTech underscores the State IT Agency's commitment to provide an ICT thought leadership platform that not only showcases the latest technologies, solutions and trends, but also brings together diverse stakeholders across the public and private sectors. THE GOVTECH VISION A world-class ICT thought leadership platform and South Africa's pre-eminent public sector technology learning event aimed at promoting knowledge sharing and fostering dialogue among ICT roleplayers who share a common interest in transforming government. GOVTECH OBJECTIVES • Establishing an ongoing public-private sector dialogue for success • Providing a platform for information-sharing between all spheres of government and industry • Profiling successful ICT initiatives undertaken across the public sector in South Africa • Presenting global best practices and proven solutions to key public sector challenges • Facilitating the discovery of new and innovative technologies used to serve citizens better • Supporting the transformation and modernisation of the public sector through ICT • Contributing to the future of public sector ICT Theme Government (EM)POWERED by Technology The theme for GovTech 2014 will focus on unlocking the power of ICT to empower the individual in public service delivery, by celebrating successes, showcasing achievements and recognising progress. It will provide a stimulating and informative centre for debate, and with eminent speakers, expert presentations and key suppliers all in attendance, delegates can identify excellent solutions to all public sector IT needs.

Join us at the Durban International Convention Centre, from the 02 - 05 November 2014, where more than 1200 key public sector IT professionals will attend GovTech 2014 to discuss and debate the effectiveness and value that ICT can deliver. Who will attend? GovTech is targeted at DGs, Deputy DGs, CIOs, CTO, IT Directors and other senior-level leaders across all levels of government, who are involved in the evaluation, selection, procurement or management of technology, as well as top-level representatives from large, medium and small ICT organisations. The combined public sector ICT constituency served by SITA alone is enormous and we anticipate that about 1 200 representatives from across national, provincial and local government will be in attendance this year, together with delegates from private sector organisations. The GovTech 2014 conference will provide a unique opportunity to reach those in government who have the mandate, budgets and need to purchase IT products, services and solution

Chosen THEME RATIONALE South Africa has systems that have been put into place by the government to help improve quality of life through the usage of technology. As oppose to going to the Department of Home Affairs and standing in a long tiring cue to find out whether your passport/id is out yet or not, government has introduced a technology system to remedy that. Things like sms notification, email and telephone calls have made life easy for us. Communication through the vast media platforms has improved so much so news have become so easy to access. I know what you are thinking, you probably thinking how does the

government come in, right? …well, this is how… by adding electricity lines, network poles and Wi-Fi spots to rural areas and unprivileged areas of SA, it becomes easy to access information through hand helds, laptops, ipads and so forth. As opposed to going out and dancing in the streets we can make use of social media to protest and show dissatisfaction. The theme is

SITA STAND AT GOVTECH 2014 BRIEF THEME: The theme for the SITA stand at GovTech is ‘15 yrs of empowering Government through ICT’ which is linked to the GovTech theme; A Government empowered by Technology. The theme needs to be creatively and visually brought to life. The services that will be exhibited demonstrate 4 different areas/sub themes of empowerment, as aligned to the GovTech 2014 topics, namely, E Government, Infrastructure & Broadband, Lowering Cost of ICT, Best practice, innovation & success stories. LOOK AND FEEL: The design concept needs to incorporate the above mentioned themes within the different areas of the stand where the services are positioned. The overarching theme should be Government Empowered by Technology which should tie back to SITA being the backbone of ICT in Government and in relation to celebrating 15 years of empowering government. Showcasing the ‘how’ of SITA empowering Govt needs to be brought to the fore. This can be aligned to successes (will send a few) All panels where services will be promoted need to be branded on both sides of panel- as per 2013. Branding will also be required around the bar area and hanging banners.
