Message from the Mayor

Since 1985, Flato Markham Theatre has been the premiere cultural hub in Markham for those seeking the thrill of the stage or a touch of arts and culture. Its size makes it the perfect place to take in an intimate jazz performance, an exciting rock n’ roll concert, or for a fully staged Ballet production, Markham has long been known for its diversity and inclusiveness – it’s part of what makes our city such an amazing place to call home. These qualities are directly reflected in the range of performances at the theatre this season, where residents and tourists alike can gather and share unforgettable experiences together through music, drama, dance, and more.

Prepare to be amazed by astounding performances such as Canadian Music Icon Tom Cochrane, The Peking Acrobats, The Aluminum Show, or Grammy® Award winner Kurt Elling and his Quintet. There will be something for every mood and every season.

Whether you are a long-time patron of Flato Markham Theatre or if seeing your very first show this year, I want to personally extend my gratitude for your support. In this post-pandemic world, the recovery of the arts is of great significance – not only to our communities, but to our humanity as well.

This Diamond Season shines bright with exceptional talent, and we hope you will indulge yourself and enjoy the shows. Thank you for contributing to what makes Markham a special place to live, work, and visit.

Frank Scarpitti Mayor, City of Markham
