SPRING PASSION FOR FASHION? As we gallop towards the Spring Racing Carnival, now is the perfect time to consider a spring clean of your wardrobe. Sometimes it’s hard letting go of your trusty threads that have stuck with you through the years. But there comes a time when you finally squash the sentimentality and discard your daggy old denim. But once you’ve completed the cull it can be sobering; do you even have any clothes you really like anymore? As Yves Saint Laurent once famously said, “Fashion fades; style is eternal.” So now you’ve purged your wardrobe (and your soul), it’s time to ask yourself if you’ve got the essentials.

The Navy Suit
The Trenchcoat
The White Sneaker
The Khakis
Everyone loves a classic. Don with wayferers and a nice belt for a timeless look.
Nothing says worldy gentleman like a trendy trenchcoat. But be careful, Trenchcoats aren’t as common in Australia as the streets of London or New York, and you need to make sure you get one that isn’t too long or you’ll look like a try hard.
For casual Fridays and Saturday breakfasts. Or even for rushed Wednesday mornings when you don’t have time to iron a shirt. Casual can still be classy.
When you start to worry you’ve worn jeans to work too many days in a row and want to switch things up, classic khakis have always had your back.
The Crisp White Shirt Buttoned up, unbuttoned, brooch, no brooch, jacket, jumper, whatever you want, you can’t go wrong with the right white shirt.
Ballet Flats
A Brightly Coloured Scarf
A Comfy Pair of Blue Jeans
Whether you’re waltzing into work or adagio (at ease) at home, or keeping your shoe game en pointe.
I see your true colours shining through. There’s knot a single reason not to.
As Lana Del Rey puts it, ‘Blue Jeans, white shirt, walked into the room you know you made my eyes burn…’ With an infinite number of cuts and colours, finding the right pair can be overwhelming. For the perfect fit, it can be fun having a pair tailored individually to your genes.
5 OF OUR BEST PICKS FOR IN-CAR APPS TO MAKE YOUR DRIVE A BREEZE It’s hard to imagine life without apps. How did we get anything done ten years ago? From getting you where you’re going to reading out your messages – even where to buy cheap fuel – these apps have got you covered.
Google Maps Continuing to set the standard in this hotly contested category is the king of navigation apps, Google Maps.Turn by turn directions? Tick. Alternative route suggestions? Tick. Near perfect interface? Tick. Helpful lane guidance? Yes. This app is hard to fault and (almost) always gets you exactly where you need to go.
Waze A direct challenger to Google Maps, Waze is also excellent, with turn by turn navigation, live traffic and road info, as well as a great interface. Whether it’s actually better at predicting traffic conditions than Google Maps is debatable, but somehow the app manages to convince you it is. Waze will certainly show you some unexpected shortcuts. Waze Carpool, currently in testing in Los Angeles, is also an interesting tool we’re keeping our eye on for when it hits Aussie roads.
ReadItToMe
Google Field Trip
As we all know, taking your eyes off the road, even for a second, is dangerous. ReadItToMe helps solve this problem by reading your incoming text messages, WhatsApp messages, emails and more. And the best bit is you can even send a voice reply.
This one is seriously cool. Field Trip runs in the background on your phone, and when you get close to something interesting, up pops a card with all kinds of details, from historical facts to the best places to eat. And if you have a headset or bluetooth connected, it can even read the info to you. It’s like your personal tour guide!
GasBuddy Without doubt, one of the best fuel price apps currently available in Australia. Clever and intuitive, GasBuddy helps you find the cheapest fuel near you, as well as report fuel prices to help others find cheap fuel. With over 60 million downloads worldwide, GasBuddy will assist you in keeping your fuel costs down by ensuring you never pay too much at the pump.
MINI REVEALS CLUBMAN SCRAMBLER CONCEPT, INSPIRED BY A MOTORBIKE MINI has unveiled a new concept car called the ALL4 Scrambler, inspired by the BMW R nineT Scrambler motorbike. The ALL4 comes with chunky off-road tyres fitted on unique five-speed alloy wheels painted in black. These wheels and tyres certainly boost the MINI’s adventurous personality. Sticking to the darkened theme, the MINI Scrambler gets a Midnight Frozen grey exterior paired with various matte silver highlights. The grille surround, headlight surrounds, roof rack, and window trimmings are all in silver. Glancing over at the motorbike, it’s easy to see the resemblance. MINI has also raised the suspension for a more rugged look and to give it enhanced off-road preparation. Like the exterior, the interior of the ALL4 Scrambler is decked out to match the motorbike, with Nappa leather and Alcantara used to colour coordinated with the nineT, with special Scrambler logos on the seats.

The MINI Clubman S ALL4 is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engine producing 141kW and 280Nm, capable of seeing 0-100km/h in 6.9 seconds when fitted with the auto transmission.
At this stage there are no plans to put the concept into production, although, we have seen some odd things in MINI’s showroom in recent years so we never know!

BACKYARD CRICKET: THE OFFICIAL RULES When you need good info, sometimes you have to get inspiration from an expert. And when it comes to Aussie cricket, there’s no better expert than the living legend himself, Steve Waugh. Without further ado, here are the official rules for backyard cricket according to the famed former Australian captain. Rule 1: First Ball Reprieve : This is great for those who are terrible at cricket. Go for gold on your first ball, because you can't lose a wicket. It's kinda like a warm-up...and a welcome one at that. Rule 2: One Hand, One Bounce : You need a drink in one hand, which then opens up the chance to dismiss a batsperson on the first bounce by catching the ball with one hand. Just don’t spill your drink. Rule 3: Six and Out : Smashing a ball over the fence gets you six runs, however you'll instantly be out and you'll also probably have to go collect the ball from the neighbour’s backyard. Rule 4: No LBW: It's every man for themselves, so LBW can't be called at all. So when you're batting, just stand in front of the wicket as much as you want. Rule 5: No Running Between Wickets: It's bloody hot, and you've probably just eaten a huge BBQ feast so who wants to run? Thought so. Rule 6: Three Over Spell: If you stay at the crease for longer than three overs, you need to change over. But an over in backyard cricket is a loose term, so bat until someone complains. Rule 7: Everyone’s a Bowler: Everyone MUST bowl, no matter how bad you are. Just pelt it at the wicket. Rule 8: Deal Breaker: Don't take it too seriously. It's all a bit of fun. However, when you hear the sound of glass it's game over. And you probably should run and hide
