SOUTH AFRICA A highly diverse country with eleven official languages and three different capitals, South Africa is a vast nation that offers a distinctive mix of cultures and influences. A great illustration of this rich fabric is the city of Cape Town –a lively metropolis surrounded by the sea, mountains, nature parks and
vineyards. Greet the penguins at Boulder’s Beach, scale Table Mountain, and take a trip to the former prison of Robben Island – where guided tours will talk you through previous political prisoners. Nelson Mandela spent 18 of his 27 years in prison on Robben Island and visitors can still see the small cell
in which he was held along with the rock pile that he started during his imprisonment. For lesser known sights in the city, see the work of local South African artists at the World Art Gallery and experience the buzz of the Bay Harbour Market. Go on wine tours outside of the city around Stellenbosch – here you
can sample world-famous offerings as well as taking in breathtaking scenery. Natural havens like Knysna and Mossel Bay offer peace and relaxation, while also being close to unique pastimes like ostrich and crocodile farms, caves, and nature reserves.
