Larache MOROCCO Far from a typical Moroccan town, laidback Larache is found along the north-west stretch of the country’s coast. Occupation by the Spanish in the 17th century means a Latin influence can be seen in the development of a shipping industry and port trade here,
however all of this is often overlooked in Larache when tourists flood in summer to the nearby Ras R’mel beach. Explore this peaceful settlement by starting off with a stroll through Plaza de Espana, under the cool shade of the overarching palm trees.
Make your way through the town to Port de Larache and look on at the colourful fleet of boats and ships moored nearby, all the while admiring the white-washed buildings along the way, which make up Larache’s residential areas. Of course no visit to a Moroccan town
or city would be complete without a walk through the old Medina, where produce markets, souks selling handmade goods (spices, leather, oils, pottery and more) and friendly locals are hidden behind every other corner of the labyrinth that is the old town.
Lixus Beach RESORT Set in an expanse of land overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, the Lixus Beach Resort is a modern resort offering a range of facilities and activities to give guests a holiday tailor-made
to their needs. Contemporary architecture is surrounded by a natural cork-oak forest and spread over five hectares of land. You’ll find two outdoor pools and an 18-hole championship
golf course available for those seeking exercise. Refreshments can be enjoyed at two restaurants, serving buffet-style local and international dishes, as well as light bites and snacks, and two bars serving soft and alcoholic drinks. Accommodations are spacious, light and elegant, fitted with modern furniture and featuring a balcony or terrace with views over the resort, Atlantic Ocean or surrounding nature. A dedicated kid’s club is on hand to provide entertainment throughout the day for children aged 4-12, and a trained animation team also organise activities for adults as well as evening entertainment seasonally. The on-site spa provides a number of treatment options for those looking to pamper themselves. The resort is located just 25 minutes’ drive from Larache town and trips can be organised from the hotel. Alternatively, Lixus historical site is just 10 minutes away.
Stay in a Golf View Double Room An elegant double room extending to approximately 37 square metres, the Double Golf View Room offers excellent vistas across the large on-site golf course and surroundings beyond. Wellness The Lixus Beach Resort boasts a range of high-end wellness facilities. At the luxurious spa, guests will find an extended 550 square metres dedicated to wellbeing and health. Visit the sauna and hammam for a traditional Moroccan bathing experience, the heated indoor pool which expands to 207 square metres, as well as a range of individual cabins where you can indulge in a massage or body and facial treatments. The spa is open daily from 1013:30, and then from 16-20:30pm. A yoga room as well as a fully-equipped fitness centre and gym are also open for guests’ use. This is open daily from 0920:30pm. Please note that use of the facilities is free to guests as part of their all-inclusive package, however treatments and massages will incur an extra charge.
Sport & LEISURE The resort prides itself on proving a varied range of entertainment offerings to guests. Holidaymakers are invited to try out their skills on the green, with the on-site 18-hole champion golf course open for use. This is located on the seafront and provides unobstructed views of the surrounding forest and ocean. There is also an impressive outdoor swimming pool extending to 999 square metres, as well as a separate kids’ pool. Water sports are easily organisable at the resort, as well as dry-land sports if guests so wish. International-speaking staff also maintain an entertainment programme for adults, and a separate Kids Club keeps younger guests entertained.
