Relais Il Canalicchio Canalicchio is a traditional, picturesque town with stone buildings and cobbled streets that wind their way around the medieval Castello di Poggio and its imposing tower. It’s within this tranquil setting, you’ll find the Relais Il Canalicchio. Restaurant “Il Pavone” Your stay at the hotel includes daily breakfast and dinner, served in the main hotel restaurant. The Il Pavone restaurant serves delicious traditional dishes, using local produce to
give you a true taste of the region. Many of the ingredients are sourced from the “La Canalicchio” farm, and food lovers can enjoy lots of delicious Umbrian treats while staying at the hotel. The cuisine is based around the five following ingredients that
are native to the region. Extra-virgin olive oil – made with topquality Umbrian olives, including frantoio, leccino and moraiolo, and pressed only once. Wine – the La Fontana white wine, and Sagrantino dell’Umbria red, are produced from sweet, aroma-filled grapes. Honey – flavoured by the nectar that comes from the scented flowers of surrounding fields, orchards and woods. Tomato sauce – made with only the pulp of ripe tomatoes grown on the hotel’s farmland, which are selected and processed in a traditional way offering a wonderful aroma and delicious taste. Pulses - red and white beans, chickpeas, and lentils are typical produce grown on the town’s farm, which are hand-picked and dried in the warm Italian sun.

WHAT TO SEE IN THE surrounding area of Perugia
Assisi Assisi is one of the most visited cities in Umbria, once home to St. Francis and St. Clare, it’s now a religious centre of the region, and a prime destination for many pilgrims. Explore the narrow, steep, picturesque lanes which conceal plenty of surprises: a hidden restaurant, a faded fresco or a stunning view. The town is set on the slopes of Mount Subasio, and it’s possible to trek the nearby Regional Park, which opens up stunning views of the scenery that characterises Assisi.
Gubbio Set on the lower slopes of the beautiful Mt. Ingino, Gubbio was once the capital of Umbria. Old buildings, monuments and streets which date back to the Middle Ages abound in the city. Its ancient walls were built at the end of the 13th century, and visitors can discover gorgeous palaces, the Piazza Grande, as well as Roman, Gothic and Renaissance architecture. The elevation of the town also provides splendid views across the green countryside.
Perugia The old town of Perugia is steeped in history, and every street and corner reveal various delightful glimpses of the past. Visit the Cathedral of St Lorenzo which towers above the rest of the city, and explore some of the many other churches that profuse in Perugia. Despite the Medieval look of the city, however, Perugia is a vibrant and youthful city.
