Barcelona Barcelona, the colourful capital of Catalonia, is a city renowned for its sport, history and culture. Artists have thrived in the city for centuries, and the most famous is undoubtedly Antoni Gaudi, whose architectural designs adorn the city. Next to the seemingly endless restaurants and tapas bars of La Rambla, you’ll find the first of Gaudi’s masterpieces. The Palau Güell rises majestically from a rather non-descript street with its palatial splendour. Heading further north you’ll come to two of Gaudi’s most famous buildings, Casa Batlló, with its surreal façade of egg-shaped windows, and the truly magnificent, albeit still unfinished, Sagrada Familia. With its steep spires, gargoyles and sheer size, this Catalan jewel is guaranteed to take your breath away. Other than Gaudi’s works, the city has castles, museums, quirky restaurants, trendy bars, theatres, churches, a beach and many other things to see and explore! The sands at Platja de la Barceloneta are welcoming and hospitable, with numerous attractions, restaurants and bars found down its pretty promenade.

Wander for half an hour in the opposite direction to see the iconic Sagrada Familia, and the tree-line La Rambla is also a 30-minute walk away, heading south-west. Back at the hotel, you can make the most of the outdoor pool, which looks over the city, and enjoy a drink or tasty tapas in the hotel bar, Onada.
