hybridní učebnice

Držíš v ruce čtvrtý díl hybridní učebnice Your Space.

Summer at an Eco Farm

Hi Hanka!

you hear me? Hi Paul! Can 1 I’m not sure if the internet works well here.

Yeah, it’s ok. So tell me about 2

holiday! What are you doing there?

Well, it’s great. We’re staying at an eco farm in the east of Slovakia. Grandpa brought 3 here. At first my brother thought 4 would be boring and didn’t want to go. Oh yeah, I know what he’s like. Always complaining about something. Exactly! But you know what? In the end, he likes it here maybe even more than 5 because he fell in love with the farmer’s daughter! Wow, a summer love story! I’ll have to ask 6

the next time I see him!

I’m sure he’ll write you an email about 7 ! Anyway, I’m sending you some pics. You can see there’s a lake where we’re spending most of the time. And you’re fishing as well! Did you catch anything? Well, Grandpa did. Fishing is 8 passion. He tried to teach my brother to fish but he gave up after my brother almost destroyed Grandpa’s expensive fishing rod... I prefer being at the farm and helping the farmers with 9 animals. You wouldn’t believe it but I milked a cow by 10 ! How was it? Were you scared? At first I was. I thought that 11 would be angry and kick me or bite me but it wasn’t like that. I did well! Have you ever drunk fresh cow’s milk? 12 must try it! No, not yet. I’m checking the photos. The farm looks really interesting! What are the big wooden boxes under the trees? Oh, you mean the compost bins! They put all the organic waste there. They’re full of worms! I wanted to touch 13 but they frightened me. They were huge! Haha. I can imagine. And what about the things on the roof? Are they solar panels?

OK, have fun! Bye! 9

If you are 17 and you live in South Korea, you can play online games anytime you want. T It’s necessary to enter your date of birth if you want to start playing an online game in South Korea. The “Cinderella law” is very popular among gamers. The law helped to reduce gaming addiction. After the law changed in 2014, the parents can decide if their child can play after midnight or not.

Cinderella law Did you know that in South Korea, children under 17 are blocked from playing online games after midnight? The government in South Korea passed the “Cinderella law” in 2011. It blocks those who are 16 or under that age from accessing gaming websites from 12 am to 6 am. The teens are monitored through their social security number which they use for logging in. This law made a lot of gamers and game fans angry. As a result, many teenagers created new gaming accounts with their parent’s personal information. In 2014, the law changed and if parents want their child to play after midnight, they can ask for it officially.  Have you ever played games after midnight? Read the interview with Petr and put questions A–F to the answers.

I love adrenaline! A I see. That must be quite a change. Why have you decided to study medicine? B Would you recommend people to try rock climbing or bouldering? C And what about your sister? Does she climb too? D Hi Petr! How are you doing? E When did you actually start climbing? F What do you consider your biggest success?

Meet Petr who is a rock climber (born in Pardubice in 1993). He takes part in many sport climbing and bouldering competitions. But climbing is not the only thing he loves. He wants to become a doctor and serve at the emergency.

D   Great! My life has changed a lot recently. 1  I started studying medicine at university in 2014. It’s hard work so I had to reduce my training routines a bit.   Well, I guess I like adrenaline. In a way, 2  medicine is similar to climbing. You have to act quickly but think very carefully about what you are doing, and you have to make the right decisions. I decided to study medicine during my gap year when I travelled around Europe and Asia. 3    Quite young because my parents are climbers too. I was only 6 when I first went climbing with them. And since then, I’ve never stopped. I’ve visited many great climbing areas all over the world.

4    As children, we used to climb together but when she was seven, she took up the piano and that’s what she loves. She became a piano player and moved to France in 2010. In 2015 she got married there! I miss her because we were quite close to each other. 5    That I passed the entrance exams to the medical faculty! But if you’re asking about climbing, it was when I climbed my first 7+ route in 2012. 6    Yes, certainly. It’s an individual sport but it’s also a great sport to find new friends and good people. You’re never alone. In fact, your life depends on other people quite a lot.

Thank you for the interview and good luck with your studies and climbing!

A new tool for learning English! Pinterest is a free website where you just have to register to use. Users can upload, save, sort, and manage images – known as pins – and other media content (e.g. videos and images) through collections known as pinboards. It’s a personalized media platform. Users can browse the content of others on the main page and save individual pins to one of their own boards using the “Pin It” button. Pinboards are typically organized around a central topic or theme. The most popular categories in 2012 were home, arts and crafts, style/fashion, and food but there are also lots of useful resources for learning English. You just have to search the categories “Learn English” or “ELT” (English Language Teaching).

Dear Web Doctor

I’m getting a pain in my right thumb. It really hurts! But I don’t do weightlifting or anything like that. I just send hundreds of texts! diamondlife

Dear diamondlife You’ve got texting thumb! First, you should try to use both thumbs. Secondly, you shouldn’t write very long messages. And if you talk to your friends on the phone, you’ll get better soon! The Web Doctor

Dear Web Doctor

Dear Web Doctor

I have some important exams next month and I’m really worried. I can’t sleep at night and then I feel tired and I can’t concentrate. I’m so stressed out. What should I do? PinkPink

There’s a new boy in my class and he calls me horrible names. I’m feeling down and I don’t want to go to school. I haven’t talked to anyone about this. neon

Dear PinkPink Nobody likes exams, but we all have to take them! You should plan your work and only revise at fixed times. If you do some exercise, you’ll think more clearly. And if you listen to some relaxing music, you’ll sleep better. The Web Doctor

Dear neon Firstly – it’s not your fault! And please don’t stop going to school. I think the new boy is a bully. If you talk to your parents and teachers, they will take action. Remember – if you ignore him, he’ll get bored. Maybe then he will leave you alone. The Web Doctor
