PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

BUSINESS INFLUENCERS

Last month the Greater Flagstaff Chamber of Commerce & Northern Arizona Healthcare Foundation presented the Chamber’s Annual Luncheon and Athena Awards with an energetic and well received keynote address delivered by Governor Doug Ducey. More than 600 movers and shakers from across the state, including local and state elected officials filled the High Country Conference Center to capacity. During the meeting we showed our new marketing video, ‘I AM THE CHAMBER’ (including its bloopers) showing just a few of the many faces who make up the Greater Flagstaff Chamber business investors. We are grateful to each of you who attended and hope you enjoyed the time together as much as we did. Chamber Awards were received by Craig Moody, Chamber Small Business Champion, Mammoth Restoration;Cecily Maniaci, Small Business Achiever, Toasted Owl Restaurants , Hoot Mart, Grand Canyon Spirits; and CT McMurry, Volunteer of the Year, QC Office Products. Each of these Chamber members showed a high level of business accomplishment and dedication to advancing the Chamber’s mission of building a healthy business climate and strengthening a vibrant community. We are proud to say that in this issue you can read more about the ATHENA Award recipients including Jesica Barker, DancEvolution, ATHENA Young Professional and Dr. Colleen Smith, President, Coconino Community College, 2020 ATHENA recipient. What a wonderful experience for 9 ATHENA nominees and 6 Young Professional nominees as the crowded room heard stories about their contributions to our community, their business success, and capacity to mentor other females along their career goals. Our Cover Story features a small business that warms the heart of many in our community because they care for pets at Wags and Whiskers. I found myself giggling when I read their Q&A and think you’ll enjoy their profile as well.

Even though the largest fundraising event for the Chamber just happened in February we now turn our sights onto The Classic, the Flagstaff Chamber’s annual golf outing that proves to be a wonderful time for all teams engaged year after year. Taking place on Friday, May 8 at the Flagstaff Ranch Golf Club we hope you register your team online today. In closing if there is one thing that I have learned about our local business community in recent years, it is the depth of our resiliency. Just think about it for a moment. Through thick and through thin, through good times and through difficult times, there is one constant. Our business community remains united, and committed to ever-strengthening our collective voice through your support of the Greater Flagstaff Chamber…where together we believe: a healthy and thriving business climate and a vibrant community are inseparable. Thank you for your investment,
