Back-to-School Badges

Set your child up for *success by encouraging creativity.*

Rapid changes are hard for everyone, especially youngsters, so making the transition from casual summer nights to a more regimented backto-school timetable can be challenging. Make it easier by easing into it slowly. Try some of these tips, and make it fun by giving out ‘badges’ for completion.

Start going to bed earlier each night in the weeks before school. Have little ones read in bed before sleeping. Not only will this make them feel like they are staying up later, it’ll prepare them for quiet time and classroom reading.

Activity Badge Exercise is always important, more so when bed times get earlier and mean less time playing outside. Ensure your youngsters are burning off enough steam by encouraging active playtime during the day.

Tech Badge Rules tend to be more lax over the summer so iPad and TV time have likely increased. Set timers that signal it’s time for getting PJ’s on and brushing teeth. Studies suggest that blue light in the evening disrupts the brain's natural sleep-wake cycles , which are crucial for optimal function of the body. Limit tech time to ensure your kids get the best night’s sleep.

Snack Badge Make a week’s worth of afterschool snacks to avoid hearing the dreaded words, "When’s dinner ready? I’m hungry.” Make it a family event by getting kids to help make their favourite snacks. For a head-start, flip the page for two healthy snack recipes.

Efalex® is proven to improve behaviour and schoolwork, as well as symptoms associated with dyslexia, dyspraxia and ADHD.

Healthy Badge Getting kids to eat healthy can be a challenge, especially if you have picky eaters. Get them involved in cooking to encourage healthy eating habits. And since we’re pretty sure they don’t always eat the apple in their lunch, giving them a multivitamin, such as liquid Salus® Kindervital, helps ensure they are getting all the nutrients their growing bodies need.

Reading Badge

With some children, the inability to sit still can hinder this creative process. If you find your child struggles with concentration and focus, try the clinically-proven Efalex®.

» If you want to avoid fish oil, or are looking for a vegan option, look no further than Flora Vegetarian DHA Caps. They are clinically proven to improve reading ability in underperforming children aged 6-10. They also improve reading ability and ADHD behavioural symptoms such as: restless-impulsive, oppositional, hyperactivity and mood swings.

Give Germs the ‘Cold’ Shoulder Ever had one of those weeks where you feel like every time you turn around you’re opening another box of tissues?

What is avoidable is suffering through a cold. At the first sign of symptoms, reach for Sambu®Guard to help you fight off infection and give your germs the ‘cold’ shoulder.

Save the tissues and help to get rid of stuffy or runny noses with ColdGuard for Kids.

If you’re looking to stop seasonal symptoms in their tracks, or stop them before they even start, try adding Sambu® Elderberry Concentrate to hot or cold water, and raise a glass to your health. Its blend of wild grown elderberries, extract of elder flowers and unpasteurized honey make for a delicious and healthful addition to your day.

It's proven to relieve symptoms and shorten the duration of upper respiratory infections. Plus, it tastes great so kids won’t turn up their (stuffy) noses at it, they’ll gulp it down.

If chronic bronchitis is what ails you, try Respir·Essence. This soothing herbal tea blend is traditionally used in Herbal Medicine to help relieve chest complaints, including coughs, bronchial irritations and bronchitis. NPN 80053441

Between summer parties, backyard BBQs, and back-to-school shopping, sharing germs is unavoidable.

Tea Time is ‘Me-Time’ Sometimes life becomes so hectic we forget to take a few minutes to ourselves; however, ‘me-time’ is extremely important. Making sure that your own batteries are charged ensures that you have the energy and wherewithal to care for everyone else. Set aside time to put the kettle on and put your feet up while you sip your stresses away.

Flora Soothing Chamomile is the perfect relaxing, after-dinner blend, or try Flora Sleep ZZZ before bed to encourage sweet dreams.
