7 Tips To KeepYour Eyes Healthy Today less outdoor activities and more screen time are impacting your eyes. Our eyes are one of the very complex organs, and 90 percent of the information processed by the brain is through the eyes. Sadly many of us do not pay attention to the eyes till they get some issue. Retaining healthy vision is not only about getting to your doctor for monthly screenings, but it is about adopting certain ways that can retain your eye health.


Eat Balanced Diet As a part of the daily diet, it is imperative to choose foods that are rich in Vitamin C and E, zinc, omega 3 fatty acids, and lutein. If you are regular in the diet you will never get cataract or macular degeneration. For this, adopt green leafy vegetables in your daily diet like     

Cabbage Spinach Beet greens Kale Lettuce Non-vegetarians must eat fish like tuna and salmon, and non-meat protein sources like eggs, seeds, beans, and nuts. Citrus fruits are also cherished like lemon, oranges, etc, and Pork and Oysters. Quit Smoking Each one of us knows smoking is unhealthy but hardly everyone knows that it affects our eyes also. Smoking can cause cataract issues, or damage to the optic nerve, macular degeneration, and other medical issues. If you attempted to kick the habit before starting again, retain it.

Do Daily Exercises Everyday exercises like jogging, walking, yoga, etc can help keep high blood pressure in


control, reduce cholesterol, diabetes, and other diseases. All these health problems impact the functioning of the eye, and can even cause eye disease.

Get Proper Sleep If you are not getting proper sleep, it can impact your eyesight. You can help the eyes recover from the strains of your daily life. Besides, giving rest to the eyes, adequate sleep replenishes the natural tears that can keep the eyes hydrated. So people who get good sleep every day are least likely to get dry eyes.


Wear Sunglasses Whenever you go out in the sun, do not forget to wear sunglasses. It helps protect your eyes from ultraviolet (UV) rays. Prolonged UV exposure can increase the chance of getting many eye issues. Choose to have that pair which blocks 99 % to 100 % of UVA and UVB rays. If you opt to wear wraparound lenses, that’s great as you can protect your eyes from the side. Polarized lenses reduce the chances of glare while driving, but do not offer much protection.

An eye examination can detect diseases like glaucoma that can show many symptoms. It is better to spot them early when they are easy to treat. Depending on your eye health requirements, you can visit either Ophthalmologist or Optometrists.
