Florida is sand, surf and sunshine but so much more
Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) is a public comprehensive institution with 16,000 students.
Students enroll at FGCU from all over the United States and from abroad because of our great environment for learning: 63 undergraduate degrees, 26 master’s degrees, 7 doctoral degrees.
Southwest Florida enjoys more than 266 days of sunshine a year and an average temperature of about 85°F/29 °C. Within a few miles of our Fort Myers campus lie some of the best beaches in the world, as well as lush parks, dynamic arts and entertainment venues, fine restaurants and chic shopping centers.
When you want to explore more of what Florida has to offer, the excitement of Tampa and Miami are just a couple of hours away. Orlando’s world-famous Disney World amusement parks are close enough for a weekend getaway.
Like most of our international students, you’ll want to see more of the United States while you’re here. Just 8 minutes from campus, Southwest Florida International Airport offers nonstop service throughout North America, including major tourism magnets like New York, Atlanta and Chicago.

I am a student-athlete on the men’s soccer team and a graduate student in Educational Leadership. I graduated from FGCU with my bachelor’s in Entrepreneurship. I am originally from Brazil and coming to FGCU was the best decision of my life. The university offered me all the support from admission to graduation, besides the gorgeous campus and great education I get. My experience at FGCU was much better than I expected.”
Gustavo VasconcelosComing from a small developing country like Albania, where perspectives and opportunities are often limited, I would have never imagined I would be able to experience what I have at FGCU. I am an international student who moved to Florida to pursue my studies in marketing at FGCU beginning fall of 2020. I feel like I have invested so much in myself and my future by attending FGCU. My small daily victories at FGCU have been the most fulfilling and life changing. I have had the invaluable chance to learn from and interact with brilliant professors, staff members, and peers. Thanks to FGCU, I have a deeper understanding of the world, myself, and future career aspirations.”
Tea Capuni
Choosing FGCU as my home away from home was one of the best decisions I made. Immediately I knew FGCU was where I’d like to further my education not only because of the location and programs offered but also because everyone I contacted from the university was extremely helpful. Unlike other universities, FGCU’s Global Engagement Office instantly reached out to schedule meetings to make me aware of all the tasks I needed to complete. The entire process was quite difficult and foreign for me, but I must say FGCU made it a lot easier.”
Tianna HenryHigh-quality and affordable programs
FGCU is one of the best values in higher education. Tuition has remained the same for eight years, and international students may qualify for merit and FGCU foundation scholarships. Comprehensive student services connect you with the resources you need to succeed, from academic advising to career counseling to health and wellness services.
With a 22:1 student-faculty ratio, you’ll gain more than just the standard education you’d get at another university. Our smaller class sizes and hands-on learning opportunities inspire closer connections with professors and peers than most larger universities. That could make all the difference in your post-graduate career.
