FGCU launches campus-wide newsletter

Florida Gulf Coast University is taking a step forward in internal communications with the launch of Inside FGCU, a campuswide newsletter.

Consider this edition a sampling of what’s to come!

The goal of this publication is to share internal news about campus, providing employees with a comprehensive snapshot of upcoming events, news briefs and a celebration of the important milestones earned by our faculty and staff.

We know that employees are inundated with messages from department, divisional and campus-wide leaders, and we see the launch of this newsletter as an opportunity to share what’s happening campus-wide without contributing yet another email to your already cluttered inbox. In fact, some of the less urgent messages sent to campus may shift to the newsletter entirely.

Feedback from the Staff Advisory Council led university leaders to the decision to launch a campus-wide newsletter. Prior to being named president-elect of FGCU, Dr. Aysegul Timur spearheaded the creation of the Inside FGCU newsletter alongside other Newsletter Editorial Executive Committee members:

• Sara Stensrud | Senior Associate Vice President of Administrative Services & Finance

• Pamela McCabe | Coordinator of University Communications & Media Relations

A full edition of the newsletter will publish in August, with monthly deliveries to offices through May.

The content is also available in a virtual flipbook through the Inside FGCU website, www.fgcu.edu/inside.

As we move forward, we want to make sure Inside FGCU is truly representative of all aspects of FGCU. To do this, we need your support!

Submit story ideas, tips, upcoming events and photos to newsletter@fgcu.edu for consideration. This content will be reviewed by the Editorial Advisory Committee, which is being formed this summer.

If you are interested in having an active role with the Inside FGCU newsletter, consider joining the advisory committee.

We’re looking for five to seven people who have the ability to meet as a team to review story pitches and other newsletter content, such as a submitted photo of the month. No past communications experience is required, but candidates should be prepared to tell us why you have a desire to join the advisory committee.

To apply, please send your name, contact information, letter of interest and a resume to newsletter@fgcu.edu by Monday, June 5. We will be meeting with prospective members so we can form the committee in early July.

For more information, contact Pamela McCabe at Ext. 1012 or email pmccabe@ fgcu.edu.
