Housing Contract Review the EVO Residence Hall Policies for the Orientation Overnight Stay and sign your name on the sheet provided at the Housing Check-In table. Florida Gulf Coast University recognizes all Eagle View Orientation (EVO) participants as admitted students, therefore holding you to the policies and standards as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct. You should be aware of the Student Code of Conduct, as well as Housing guidelines, while on campus. If a student is found in violation of the Student Code of Conduct or a public law, it could result in you being removed from the residence hall and from the Eagle View Orientation program. General Overnight Policy- The overnight stay is a mandatory component of the program during Eagle View Orientation. A waiver of the overnight stay must be pre-approved by the Orientation Staff prior to the student’s orientation. EVO students are not allowed to leave campus during their Orientation program, nor are others not enrolled in the Orientation program allowed to visit you while you are here. University Conduct Policies – The following items are considered to be violations of the FGCU Student Code of Conduct. Please note that the items listed below are not inclusive of all policies outlined in the Student Code of Conduct; rather, they are the highlighted items that 4

we want to make sure you understand as an EVO participant: Do not bring or use any alcohol or drugs while participating in EVO at FGCU. This, of course, includes prescription drugs that are not prescribed to you. Bottom lineEVO is an alcohol/drug free program. The University does not tolerate physical harm or threats against others. This includes verbal or written abuse, threats, or intimidation. You are expected to be professional and courteous to each other and to the staff and faculty of the University. Do not bring weapons, firearms or any dangerous materials to FGCU. This includes tasers, knives, soft-air guns, or chemicals. At times you may be asked to present your ID or to comply with a request from an official conducting University business. You must comply with any lawful directive. EVO participants will be held accountable for any damage or violation of University regulations and policies should they be caused by your or your visitor(s). (Remember, we have told you that you are not permitted to have visitors while in EVO.)
Additional Eagle View Orientation Conduct Policies: Curfew - Orientation participants are expected to be inside their assigned rooms by 11:00pm. Orientation Staff will confirm that all students are accounted for at this time. Quiet Hours – Orientation participants are expected to observe quiet hours from 11:00 pm to 7:00 am. Privacy Space - Occupying the assigned room of another Orientation participant at any point [excluding the common areas] is considered a violation of EVO policy. Fire Safety : } Open flames such as candles or incense are prohibited. } FGCU, including all Residence Halls, are smoke free and tobacco free. There should be no smoking or tobacco use during Orientation. In the event of a fire alarm, all residents are expected to evacuate the building immediately. Instructions following the evacuation will be provided by University personnel. Key Policy- Orientation participants are responsible for the possession of their room key provided at EVO check in. If a key is lost by a participant, s(he) will be charged a Hard Key Replacement Fee of $100. Other Pertinent Information for Orientation Participants: 1. University personnel have the right to enter apartments (including bedrooms) in those situations deemed as an emergency, a facility problem, or in the event of a policy violation. 2. A full sheet and towel set, a blanket, and pillow are included in the orientation fee and will be provided for the student during their stay.
3. Residence Hall Check Out will take place on the morning of the second day of Orientation prior to breakfast. Room keys will be returned to EVO Staff, and luggage will be securely stored in a locked room until the completion of the program. 4. “Lost & Found” is handled by the Eagle View Orientation staff. Participants should see an OL or contact New Student Programs at 239.590.7875 if a personal item is lost. Please note that items left behind after an Orientation program are kept for two business days before being discarded. 5. Concerns and questions should be directed to the Eagle View Orientation Staff.
I understand and agree to abide by the policies that govern my overnight stay in University Housing and my participation in Eagle View Orientation. I am aware that violations of Student Code of Conduct and/ or EVO policies could result in University conduct action, my removal from the residence halls, and/or my removal from the Orientation program. I understand that if I am asked to leave the EVO program prior to completion, I will need to re-register for and attend another orientation program at my own expense.

First Year Experience Who are we and what do we do? The office of First Year Experience (FYE) works to create programs and initiatives which allow students to make the most of their first year at FGCU. Our office provides you with the tools needed to ease your transition into college, become engaged with the FGCU community, and increase your skillset to become a more wellrounded student. Eagle View Orientation is your first exposure to FYE, but it doesn’t stop here. These are just some of the many different opportunities FYE provides to enhance your first year at FGCU!
The University Transition The University Transition is a 3-credit hour elective course designed specifically for first year students’ transition to FGCU. Some topics addressed in the class include the transition to college life, effective time management, study skills for college level work, maintaining health and wellness, and choosing and evaluating your major and career. If you’re interested in taking this course, be sure to talk with your academic advisor and let them know that you want to enroll in SLS 1101: The University Transition.
SPARK SPARK stands for “Supporting Peers through Academics, Relationships, and Knowledge”. To make your transition to FGCU as smooth as possible, your SPARK Mentor is here to guide you not only through Eagle View Orientation, but throughout your first semester of college! Be sure to stay connected with your SPARK Mentor by following their animal Instagram account, meeting up with them at events, dropping by their office hours.
Eagles Read The Eagles Read program aims to allow students to begin their first-year by automatically having something in common with others. All first-year students have the opportunity to read a common text and participate in engaging ways around the book. This includes, but is not limited to, lunch and learn sessions, book discussions, and writing contests.
Eagles in 26 This program is made specifically for you, the class of 2026! By attending Eagles in 26 programs, you’ll learn how to get involved, fully understand the resources available to you as a student, and make connections with other first year students. When you attend events you’ll earn points giving you the opportunity to win all kinds of cool prizes, and who doesn’t love free stuff?
