Step 01: Publication Types Upon opening Microsoft Publisher 2007, you will see a listing of Popular Publication Types. Select Blank Page Sizes.

Step 02: Page Size Double click on "Letter (Portrait) 8.5 x 11"to open up a Blank Page.

Step 03: Margins Go to the File Menu > Page Setup. This will open up the Page Setup Window. To the right side of this window you will see the Margin Guides section. Set Top, Left, Bottom, and Right to "0.5". Click on the "OK" button on the bottom right of the screen.

Step 04: Draw Rectangles Now we will make 2 Rectangles that go side by side. The Rectangle Icon Objects Menu Bar to the right of the screen.

Upon drawing your 1st Rectangle, it should have No Fill and a Black Stroke by default. We need one rectangle to be "Black" and the other to be "Maroon".

Step 05: The Fill Color Icon Click on the Rectangle to select it, then select the Down Arrow next to the Fill Color Icon on the Formatting Bar.

This will bring up the Fill Menu. Select "Black". Repeat these steps for the 2nd Rectangle. Then select "More Fill Colors". Page 3 of 10

Step 06: The Color Window This brings up the Color Window which gives you the option to select Standard, Custom or Pantone Colors.

Step 07: The Custom Tab Select the Custom Tab and set Red to "128", Green to "0" and Blue to "0". Then click OK. The Colored Background will look like this:

Step 08: Add Text Select the Text Box Icon on the Objects Menu Bar to the left of the screen or go to Insert Menu > Text Box. Hold down the left mouse button, draw a Text Box on the screen and then release. Start entering Text, in this case it will be the Flyer Title, "Aiden's Digital Photography".

Step 09: Format Text Select all the Text then move up to the Formatting Menu Bar, change the Font to "Disko" which is a free Font that was downloaded at www.FontFreak.com. Set the Font Size to "48". Change the Layout to "Center". Then while Text is still selected click on the Font Color Icon on the Formatting Menu Bar and select the "White". The Text should look like this: Step 10: Add More Text Put in the remaining Text on the document. Here the Font is "Segoe Print" also from www.FontFreak.com. Repeat the steps for Centering and Changing the Font Color to "White". Set Text to Bold by selecting this Icon on the Formatting Menu Bar. The Flyer should look like this:

Step 11: Add Star Select the Autoshape Icon the Autoshape Menu.

Go to Stars and Banners. Select the 5 Point Star. Then holding down your left mouse button, draw the Star on the Flyer. It should look like this:

Step 12: Star Transparency Next we will make the Star Transparent. To do this, right click on the Star and select Format Autoshape. This will bring up the Format Autoshape Window. In the Colors and Lines Tab set Transparency to "54%". Then click OK.

Step 13: Drop Shadow Next add a Drop Shadow to the Star. Click on the Shadow Icon the Formatting Menu Bar.

This in turn opens up the Shadow Style Menu. Select Shadow Style 4.

Step 14: Shadow Settings Go back to the Shadow Icon and select Shadow Settings which will bring up the Shadow Settings Menu Bar. Select the Arrow to the right of the Shadow Color Icon. Select the "Black" from the drop down menu. This gives a Black Shadow.

The new Star will look like this:

Step 15: Royalty Free Images Next we can add Images to the document. I downloaded photos from these 3 sites that have Royalty Free Photos to use without any hassel.

Step 16: Add Images To insert Images select the Picture Frame Icon on the Objects Menu Bar, then select "Picture from File", or go to the Insert Menu > Picture > From File.

Step 17: Resize Images Once the Image has been inserted, Resize it by selecting one of the Circles and holding down the Ctrl + Shift Keys together, so that you don't get a disproportionate image.

Step 18: Line/Border Style You will also notice the Picture Menu Bar. You can give the Image a Border by selecting the Line/Border Style Icon on the Picture Menu Bar. This will bring up the Lines Menu. For all the Images that will go above the Star, select "More Lines" which will bring up the Format Picture Window.

Step 19: Line Border Color In the Colors and Lines Tab, go to the Line Section, and click on the Down Arrow next to Color and select "White". Then set Dashed to Solid, Weight to "3pt" and click OK. Next add a Drop Shadow to the Image by selecting the Drop Shadow Icon. Set the Shadow to "Black". Repeat these steps for all of the Images.

Step 20: Arrange Order Use the Bring to Front Icon Images as you lay them out.

Step 21: Save File Once you've finished arranging your Images your document will be complete. It should look like this:

All that's left to do is Save the document. Go to File > Save.
