elcome everyone to our 14th annual bull sale! Thank you to all that have supported us! It's has been a pleasure working with you. We do our best to raise good quality 2 year old bulls that are sound, structurally correct, and have good growth and carcass traits. We don’t sell a bull that we wouldn’t feel comfortable using ourselves. We have been trying to stay away from trends and keeping our program in the middle of the road as George Leblanc did since 1972. When your bull shopping, keep in mind your investing in the program where your bull got raised. Cattle prices look very promising for the future. There’s no better time to invest in a bull that’s raised to last more than 1 or 2 breeding seasons. We also offer a second to none money back guarantee on our bulls so buy with confidence! A note about the cow herd & bulls We start calving the purebreds April 1 and calving ease has always been a big part of the program. We do not check during the night when it is above -10. Nature has a way of taking care of itself until the human gets involved. Since 1992, George has always used sires with birth weights between 80 to 90 lbs. Every herd sire breeds heifers and cows until the day he retires. Resulting calves are expected to grow and wean at 40 to 50% of the dam’s mature weight by 205 days. Over the years, we found that cows with a mature weight of over 1,500 lb are less likely to wean a calf that is 50% of her body weight. The bigger the cow, the less efficient she is. Of course, there is a lower limit too, and one has to pay attention by keeping good records. Once the cows have calved they are then moved onto bigger pastures with some stockpiled grass so they can spread out, get exercise, and there’s less chance of calves getting scours or other sicknesses. We rotational graze throughout the summer. We do not AI and use all walking sires. Around the end of October or beginning of November we wean the calves. They get fed a daily ration of chopped hay, silage, and between 6 to 8 lb of oats throughout the winter. In Spring, at first sign of green grass, the bulls are put on pasture where they can be bulls and develop naturally until the snow starts flying. After calves are weaned, cows either stay on stockpile grass, swath grazing or bale graze for as long as possible, depending on the year and the weather. God intended cows to have a dual role, turning forage into good quality protein while at the same time building healthy soil. May we always keep that in mind as we keep breeding for better genetics.

A NOTE ON CALVING EASE Calving ease is more than just birth weight, for over 35 years, no herd sire has been used in this herd with over a 90 lbs birth weight. Every sire we use walks the pastures and breed both heifers and cows. During calving we don't check during the night, assisting a cow happens very rarely, and if a cow needs assistance more than once she's not kept around. 2
