Zenith Double-hander The most eagerly awaited double handed rods for years. The Zenith Salmon rod features an all round action suited to both modern and traditional casting styles. THE SINTRIX STORY from

£849 £8 49

When we launched the first SINTRIX technology rods in 2010, some people were sceptical. How will the claims of improved technology translate into fishing rods? Is it just hype? Almost three years on we have a range of fly rods that have won accolades from the press, competition anglers, professional guides, and of course the hundreds of other anglers out there enjoying their sport with these rods. The improved strength/reduced weight was the headline for the technology, but the rods shine for a different reason—they’re an absolute joy to fish with. The rods feel feather light in hand and can control and manipulate a fly line a short range, and can also deliver a long cast or

pressure a strong fish in a tight situation. Not only have many anglers found it’s the rod they like best, Zenith rods have come out top in some pretty scientific head-to-head tests against other leading fly rods—Yellowstone Angler’s ‘shoot-outs’ have gained cult status with those who really want to get into the detail when choosing a rod, and in 2011 the Zenith 9’ #5 topped the 5-weight shoot-out, and the Zenith 8’6 #4 followed up with a win in the 4wt shoot-out in 2012.

Marksman 2 T-Series (Traditional Style)

from

£499 £4 99

CHOOSING YOUR IDEAL SALMON ROD Ian Gordon Hardy & Greys Salmon Consultant

Much work went into the development of our current range of Hardy Salmon rods. The T-Series has been designed with a more forgiving action, making it easy to bend, flex, or load the rod properly when using the most common, longer, casting stroke. If however, you use a shorter, Scandi style, casting stroke along with shorter fly lines, then the S-Series will probably suit you better.

My advice however, is always to go along and try a rod before you buy it, because the one recommended by the ‘expert’ may not suit – Buy what feels right for your personal casting style , also, the size of river and species you are fishing for.

Marksman 2 A comprehensive range of high performance fly rods with a fast recovering easy to load action that meets the often opposing requirements of casting performance and excellent ‘fishability’. Whilst ultra-fast action rods have their place in fly fishing often a more allround action is required to meet the refined aspects of tippet protection, line control and pure fishing comfort.

With a cutting edge blank design combined with subtle traditional styling, Marksman 2 gives the discerning angler a rod that can meet the demands of technical fishing and casting but in a user friendly package that you ‘forget’ is in your hand. ULTRALITE CLS John Horsey Hardy & Greys Consultant

As a Pro Guide and fanatical competition angler, I need to carry mountains of tackle, including lots of fly lines and reels, just in case a particular guest wants a certain set up. I prefer to use cassette style systems, which reduces the number of reel cages and their associated bulk. The new Hardy Ultralite CLS reel is perfect for me. I can store all my lines on lightweight spools, each marked with an ingenious line size and sink rate tagging system that even I find easy to use! The spool locking device has to be the quickest on the market and most important of all, the reel itself is engineered to the highest quality and is a joy to own. Ultralite Click Check
