AT THE HEART OF THE ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT

2017-2018 SEASON

MESSAGE FROM THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR The F.M. Kirby Center’s 30th Anniversary Season was another busy one, as we hosted nearly 130 events and moved up to #109 on Pollstar’s list of the top 200 theaters in the world based on ticket sales for the 2016 calendar year. As we move into our 31st year as a performing arts center, we do so with a renewed focus on our mission to bring the arts and arts education into our community. More specifically, we are poised to make the arts more accessible than ever by making them more affordable than ever. This season, tickets to our entire Signature Series will cost just $10, thanks in large part to the continued support and underwriting from The Pennsylvania Council on the Arts. This is a movement we have been working towards over the past few years, and we are truly excited about it. We have long been bringing the arts into this community, but this year we are making it easier to bring the community to the arts. For just $10, you can take in Verdi’s Rigoletto, The Duke Ellington Orchestra, the Howard Gospel Choir, Walnut Street Theatre’s take on a Sherlock Holmes mystery, and more. Of course, we will also continue to bring you the mainstream events you have come to expect. We are thrilled to have the likes of Johnny Mathis, Donny & Marie, Daughtry, and Celtic Woman in this brochure. We are equally as thrilled to offer a Broadway series that includes Cabaret, The Wizard of Oz, and two evenings of The Sound of Music, along with two performances of Stomp. For the third consecutive season, we are thrilled to offer a FREE Young Peoples Theater Series, and a Family Series that includes titles such as Shopkins Live!, PJ Masks, and the legendary Jungle Jack Hanna. And that’s not all. As you turn the pages of this brochure, you will find many more surprises at your fingertips. And there’s so much yet to come. As always, none of this would be possible without our generous donors, sponsors, members and ticket buyers. You truly make a difference. Thank you for making our 31st season an exciting reality!

William M. Beekman, III Executive Director
