Verdo Renewables are the first UK wood pellet producers to receive certification under ENPlus, the new Europe wide standard for premium quality wood pellets. ENPLus certificate number UK001 was awarded to Verdo by OFI Cert, the Austrian certification body working in co-operation with the European Pellet Council. The aim of the new certification scheme is to secure the supply for end consumers of standardised, high-quality wood pellets. Also, Verdo Renewables are pleased to announce they have recently received FSC accreditation. Achieving this accreditation confirms Verdo’s commitment to sourcing all its raw material from sustainably managed woodlands.
There’s a revolution going on, and renewable fuels are at the heart of it. Businesses and individuals across the UK are looking for ways to move away from fossil fuels, and that’s why our two new £15 million eco-friendly wood fuel production plants, in Andover and Grangemouth, are set to play such a crucial part in our future. We were delighted to welcome Greg Barker MP, Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change, to Andover earlier this year to open the facility, and he certainly seemed to recognise the importance of our new plant. Discussing the government’s Renewable Heat Incentive, which aims to encourage energy users to shift to renewable heat sources, he commented: “Verdo Renewables is in a prime position to take advantage of this exciting new market in renewable heat.” The two new facilities will produce 110,000 tonnes of wood pellets each year, as well as 30,000 tonnes of wood briquettes.
Helping horses bed down Everyone needs a comfortable bed – especially horses! There’s a great video on our website that shows our wood pellet bedding in use, plus you’ll find lots customer comments on our Facebook page. So if you keep horses, make sure you give them the best bedding you can with Verdo wood pellets.

The Isle of Eriska Hotel, near Oban on the west coast of Scotland, has one of the most stunning locations in the UK. Situated on its own 300-acre island, the hotel is taking around 150 tonnes of wood pellets per year – enough to heat the hotel, spa and suite facilities. Along with a number of other eco-friendly initiatives, such as composting leftover food for fertiliser on the golf course, the Eriska Hotel has reduced its CO2 emissions by approximately 200 tonnes per annum. This is a great result, as Alistair McGlynn, our UK Sales Manager, makes clear: “To be selected as preferred supplier for one of Scotland’s most impressive five star hotels is a particular pleasure for us at Verdo and we are satisfied that the hotel is reducing its

As winter begins to edge its way ever nearer, lots of people are on the lookout for efficient ways of heating their home. Many people are opting for wood-burning and multi-fuel stoves, and our wood briquettes make the perfect fuel. So in order to get the message across, we’ve been working on some new campaign ideas to promote the briquettes as widely as possible. At the heart of the new campaign is our website at www.verdorenewables.co.uk. We’re continuing to work on the site to make it informative and easy to use, and we’ve improved our e-commerce facility so it’s simple to order briquettes online. Our Facebook page is also regularly updated, giving you the opportunity to engage with us, find out what we’re up to, and tell us what you think.
The feedback we’ve received from customers who have used our briquettes has been fantastic. Don’t just take our word for it though: you can find a video showing how to use our briquettes on our website, but most importantly, there’s a customer testimonial video as well.
