Founder Dr. Vance Thompson is a worldrenowned surgeon and board-certified ophthalmologist. He serves as the director of refractive surgery at Vance Thompson Vision and specializes in laser vision correction and advanced cataract surgery. Dr. Thompson leads a collaborative team of medical professionals in treating vision conditions using advanced technology and innovative techniques. Dr. Thompson has more than 25 years of cataract surgery and laser vision experience and treats patients from all around the world.

John Berdahl, MD

John Berdahl, MD is one of the leading international eye surgeons. He is equipped to employ the most innovative and advanced techniques available to effectively treat cataracts, glaucoma, cornea, nearsightedness and farsightedness. He has spearheaded some of the most exciting research in ophthalmology, both in the U.S. and across the world. He has received multiple Teacher of the Year awards, World's Top Ophthalmologists awards and research accolades. Someday he hopes to receive a parent of the year award, but so far his wife, Tamme, is on a long-standing winning streak. Given the extraordinary need for excellent eye surgery, John continues to provide free care through mission work both locally and globally.

Dr. Berdahl is passionate about connecting with patients to get to the root cause of their problem. “The way to make connections is to slow down and focus on other people. Find out what a patient cares about deeply and understand how their vision fits into that and then discuss how you can help the patient achieve that goal.”

Daniel Terveen, MD

Daniel Terveen, MD is an expert in caring for the most challenging cornea, glaucoma and cataract patients. He is an active advocate for improvements in patient care and has won numerous, prestigious awards for his excellence in leadership and research. In addition, he takes pride in making meaningful connections with his patients.

“There is no shortcut for meaningful connections. Everybody has a need to be listened to. So when time is short, active listening helps patients and team members know they matter, and that gets to the heart of the issues faster,” Dr. Terveen said. “I also find commonalities as quickly as possible. A common friend, experience or interest allows people to feel a connection, and in the Midwest, it doesn’t take long to find a relative in common.”
