Mathews Crossing sold for $49.5 million A Texas-based apartment investor bought the Mathews Crossing Apartment Homes complex along Atlantic Boulevard last week for $49.5 million. Addison, Texas-based S2 Capital LLC, through SP Matthews LP, bought the complex in two deeds from ownership
groups led by New York investor Pinchos Shemano. Co-founder and Managing Partner Scott Everett said that at 1,103 units, Mathews Crossing, not far from Regency Square Mall in Arlington, is the largest apartment complex in the area. He said it will be renamed soon and updated with $12 million in exterior and interior renovations. Mathews Crossing, at 400 Century Drive and 401 Century Drive E., was built in 1972 and 1973. Everett said the group also intends to buy the 458-unit Casa del Rio apartments
near Jacksonville University in August and invest $5 million in renovations. It was built in 1973 and 1975, property records show. That complex is at 3500 University Blvd. N. S2 Capital will buy that from the same seller, he said. The seller bought it about a year ago. Everett did not divulge a purchase price. Everett said the condition and security of the Mathews Crossing apartments are an issue and “something we will address.” “We’ve done almost 30 acquisitions. This is all we do, every day, and it is what
we look for,” he said. Everett said S2 Capital likes in invest in “mismanaged, neglected properties.” He indicated it was a successful strategy. “We are so far 30 for 30,” he said. He and Harold “Skip” Bird founded the company in 2012 to build a multifamily “value-add” investment platform in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Rutledge is president of WRH Properties, WRH Deerwood and WRH Realty Services Inc., all based in St. Petersburg and in Jacksonville. The city is reviewing permit applications for the $38 million construction project at 4929 Skyway Drive, at northeast Butler and Southside boulevards.
Summit Contracting Group is the contractor. Humphreys & Partners Architects of Maitland is the architect. Ciel is pronounced “see-al” and means blue, sky and heaven. It plays off of the location next to Florida Blue. “This is designed to be bestin-class,” Rutledge said. St. Vincent’s names VanOsdol as CEO Executive had been serving as interim CEO since January. From Staff Reports St. Vincent’s HealthCare named Tom VanOsdol as president and CEO. He has been serving as interim CEO since January after Dr. Mike Schatzlein stepped down Dec. 31. VanOsdol also will serve as senior vice president of Ascension Healthcare and as Jacksonville Ministry market executive. St. Vincent’s is part of Ascension, the nation’s largest nonprofit health system VanOsdol joined St. Vincent’s in 2015 as chief operating officer of clinically integrated systems of care. He joined Ascension in 1990
as a speechlanguage pathologist in Anderson, Indiana, becoming vice VanOsdol president of o p e ra t i o n s and then regional president in 2008. He was a past participant in the Ascension Executive Ministry Leadership formation program and is a graduate of the Ascension Leadership Academy. In Jacksonville, Ascension’s St. Vincent’s HealthCare operates three hospitals and dozens of health care facilities and employs more than 5,000 people. Serving Jacksonville for more than 130 years, Ascension is a faith-based health care organization.

Alley. On June 20, with the support of Miller Electric Co., Dreams Come True sent Seslija and his family to Washington, D.C., for five days. Mateo was able to experience the piece of history he found most intriguing. In addition to visiting the White House and the famous bowling alley, Seslija was welcomed by U.S. Rep. John Rutherford and his staff. Arranged through the National Electrical Contractors Association, the family also took a tour of the Capitol. “Mateo’s courage and curiosity is inspiring. As a history buff myself, I was honored to host him and his family at my office and show them around our nation’s Capitol,” Rutherford said in a news release. Seslija, who was diagnosed cancer-free in November, is one of more than 3,600 children whose dreams have been fulfilled by Dreams Come True since 1984. In 2016, the organization fulfilled the dreams of 181 children and is expected to surpass its 2016 dream fulfillment number, with 90 dreams already completed in the first six months of 2017.
