Lemonis concept Union73 to open as soon as possible

The Marcus Lemonis Fashion Group confirmed it will expand its operations to include the new Union73 retail concept boutique at the Denim & Soul space at 4742 R ive r C i ty Drive, No. 113, in St. Johns Lemonis Town Center. Joseph Gualtiere, communications director for Marcus Lemonis Fashion Group, said the store will open as soon as possible to offer “trendy, fast-fashion products at affordable prices.” Union73 sells men’s and women’s clothing and is the brainchild of entrepreneur Marcus Lemonis, star of the CNBC reality series “The Profit.” “We are excited to bring the new Union73 boutique to Jack-

sonville,” Lemonis said in a statement. “Our goal is to be the go-to trendy retailer in this community” with a changing collection of wellknown national-brand men’s and women’s fashions, he said. He said Union73 is offering more than 1,500 pairs of jeans in all styles, washes and prices in Jacksonville to start the new concept. The 7,000-square-foot boutique will feature denim, jackets, tops, sweaters, dresses and bottoms, as well as shoes, accessories and handbags, said a news release. The release said the business model is focused on a strong commitment to one-on-one customer relationships. Union73 operates in Chicago and Minneapolis, and more locations are planned. On the show, Lemonis advises struggling small businesses around the country. Denim & Soul opened last year in Jacksonville. Lemonis featured the store during Season 4 of “The Profit.” Denim & Soul, selling jeans and

high-end clothing and accessories, opened in the space vacated by the bankrupt Cachè. Lemonis also featured Jacksonville’s Sweet Pete’s candy store in 2014 on the show. He made a 50 percent investment in the business, which moved Downtown from Springfield.

Amazon

AMAZON JOBS

Continued from front page

Amazon has scheduled job fairs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at these dates and locations: n Monday, July 10; Wednesday, July 12; and Friday, July 14; at Legends Center, 5130 Soutel Drive. n Monday, July 17; Wednesday, July 19; and Friday, July 21; at the Prime Osborn Convention Center, 1000 Water St. Downtown. Amazon said the locations of the job fairs are subject to change. Spokeswoman Shevaun Brown said applicants should bring a photo ID. They will undergo a process that includes a background check and drug-screening. Applicants who successfully complete the application and assessment “are immediately given a contingent job offer — meaning they can walk away with a job offer on the same day as the event,” she said. Brown said candidates applying online don’t need to attend a job fair. She couldn’t say how many positions the events would fill, but the facility is creating more than 1,500 full-time jobs. Legislation for city incentives indicated that of the 1,500 jobs, 500 would pay an average of $50,000 a year. Those higher-paid jobs tend toward operations and management, and Brown said those positions also must be filled. “We are looking to fill all roles and are always seeking enthusiastic, hardworking individuals who have a strong work ethic

and commitment to customer service,” she said. While she did not provide an opening date, she said hiring typically takes place a couple of months before the fulfillment centers open. That indicates a September time frame. Amazon is hiring now for the its first area fulfillment center at 12900 Pecan Park Road. It is a multilevel, 2.4 millionsquare-foot warehouse to handle small consumer items. The part-time sortation associate positions are for the Amazon sortation center being developed in Westside Industrial Park, Brown said. That job description calls it a “high-speed, high tech” sortation center. Amazon also is building a fulfillment center in Cecil Commerce Center at 13333 103rd St., creating another 1,200 jobs. That one is a 1 million-squarefoot center to handle large items. Amazon also has a delivery station in Alta Lakes Commerce Center in North Jacksonville. The bulk of the almost 3,000 total positions are warehouse jobs in the fulfillment centers. Amazon said full-time jobs are available with comprehensive benefits starting on the first day that include medical, dental and vision insurance as well as 401(k) and company stock awards. Amazon also offers full-time employees programs like Career Choice, where the company will pre-pay up to 95 percent

Amazon says the fulfillment centers “are where Amazon orders come to life and where we focus on delighting our customers by delivering smiling boxes filled with everything under the sun.” Online Jacksonville positions at amazondelivers.jobs show:

uct offerings as its first major initiative after Apollo Global Management bought the supermarket group in March 2016. When that deal was announced, The Fresh Market operated 186 stores in 27 states. The company’s stores were known for featuring fresh foods, produce and flowers, samples of freshly brewed coffee, as well as bulk items. The changes include lowered prices, doubling the number of aisles and adding everyday grocery products, including mainstream and organic and natural brands. The Greensboro-based company told Supermarket News it would keep the “special” elements that defined it as a gourmet specialty chain. Its website refers to “all the refreshing updates to your neighborhood store. Like improved lighting and signage that helps you find the products you want. More focus on freshness. More deliciously easy meal solutions for busy days. An expanded selection of organic, non-GMO and gluten free foods.” The stores are open 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. When the updated Charlotte stores in North Carolina were scheduled to open in November, Progressive Grocer reported the refresh focused on several key areas: A large selection of highquality fresh foods, with more offerings from local farmers; expanded product offerings and optimized grocery space to accommodate more grocery and household items, including 1,300 everyday grocery essen-

equipment; operate PIT (powered industrial trucks) equipment if interested in being trained; be willing and able to work all shifts.

When public notices reach the public, everyone benefits.

Some officials want to move notices from newspapers to government-run websites, where they may not be easily found.

This is like putting the fox in charge of the hen house.
