HoPE Meeting Details We are looking forward to hosting you at Harrow Bangkok from 20-22nd September. The outline is as follows:
At the time of writing many Primary FOBISIA teams will have already attended their “Friendly Games” and several others are still plugging away with last minute preparations. SPORT HANDBOOKS WITH MICHAEL PRESTON SECONDARY SPORT WITH PHILIP HUSBAND Many thanks to all Member Schools that have made suggestions for modifications to the current handbooks for primary and senior Friendly Games. The Executive Committee went through the current handbooks with a fine-toothed comb recently and we will go through key changes that need to be voted on at the HoPE AGM. We are very much looking forward to working towards a more interactive and easier-to-use handbook that also includes details for Invitational formats.
FOBISIA Sport High Quality Collaboration Something that we as an Executive Committee are highly motivated to achieve, is a sense of sharing and learning from one another. We have a wealth and breadth of knowledge in our now very large group of Member Schools. No matter who we are or where we teach, we can help new schools understand the intricacies of a FOBISIA Games, support an experienced member of staff in curriculum areas and learn coaching pedagogy from a new teacher welcomed into our community... << read more >>

Sharing practice in sport and physical education
PHYSICAL EDUCATION: ACCEPTING THE CHALLENGE by Alan Dunstan, Primary PE, BSM Playing a competitive full sided game where only the strongest players succeed; running endless laps around the field; participating in repetitive and soul destroying fitness tests. These are the old days of Physical Education.
For example in Year 2, all students participate in a Net Games unit. The classes are mixed ability and gender, with approximately 22 students in each class. At the start of the unit all students play a simple game called ‘Hoopla’ in pairs. To score a point the students throw their bean bag into the opponent’s hoop, around 2 metres away. The receiving player can block the bean bag but cannot stand in the hoop.
