Longtime customer Mary Alice Hendricks, Executive Director of Pregnancy Care Center of Plant City, had this to say about the opening of Desco’s new location, “Kudos to Desco on their new office in Plant City! Managing a non-profit organization has its challenges, and the team at DESCO has been a great asset to our operation. Whether we needed a design concept that was cost effective or the basics like letterhead and envelopes, Desco has been there with not only a great value, but prompt, courteous attention and the flexibility we need as a smaller business. We look forward to continued great service from Desco.”
Desco offers samples of their work for all customers to see
In Brandon, in the year 1970, a gentleman who shall remain nameless began a printing business out of his house. His initials being D.E.S., he added “co” to the end to stand for “company”, and Desco Printing Company, Inc. was born. In the early 80’s, the shop was moved into its Valrico office, where graphic artist Jim Zipperer came on board, and in 1989, current owners and Plant City residents Robert and Phyllis Westlake bought the company. The couple’s two sons, Rob and Tom, are also active in the business, overseeing most of the day to day operations.
From individuals to corporations, Desco Printing will service any customer, although their target audience is the small business. With hours from 8:30 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and after/before hours available by appointment, their flexibility serves customers well. “Our goal is to keep our customers satisfied,” Zipperer stated firmly. “We want them to continue to come back, and to tell those around them about our services.”
Taking over a small company and growing it not only through an industry changing technological revolution, but also establishing a solid clientele, is no small feat. The Westlakes are proud to call their customers friends, and with a new generation of their family now adding fresh ideas, new products, new technology and an eagerness to grow the business in the future, Desco Printing is excited to announce their second office, right here in Plant City! Their message to our community is, “Just try us once!” “Our Valrico office draws quite a few people from Plant City,” commented Zipperer, who manages the new office. “We chose this location not only because it’s a growing area, but because we want to keep our Plant City customers satisfied.” Their office here is located in the beautiful Village Shopping Center, between Wal-Mart and Lott-Mather on Jim Redman Parkway.

Another specialty Desco promotes is their ability to not only design from scratch, but also to work with a design a customer already has. I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Retha Crawford and discuss the vision she had when creating Crawford-Hill Interior Designs. She is now into her third expansion with a beautiful showroom, located at 1407 East Baker Street. Most of us recognize a tastefully decorated room when we see it, but few of us can create a truly distinctive look without help. Interior designers like Retha and her staff are trained to create the specific look desired for a room, a home, a suite of offices or a complete office building. Using the customer’s ideas or offering their input, Crawford-Hill Interior Designs can create the interior for your home or business that will not only be beautiful, but functional and uniquely your own. From commercial to builder or retail, Crawford-Hill has it all! “We are extremely diversified,” Retha Crawford commented, referring to styles her designers offer to their clients. The showroom displays vinyl, ceramic, porcelain, travertine, marble and granite, laminate, wood including many exotics such as cork and bamboo and a wide selection of carpeting. Window treatments include shutters, blinds, cornices and custom draperies. They also provide wall paper, fab-

Retha points out that each customer is different. On the commercial or builder side, the team may meet for six months prior to the actual creation. Although much is pre-planned, many times a customer will call requesting an immediate need. Her answer? “No problem! We are definitely flexible,” Retha laughs. “We have to be in this trade! We are open-minded and put our customer’s needs first.” For the past 20 years Retha has done minimal advertising, relying on and keeping busy from referrals by satisfied customers. Caring, pride and honesty in a job well done with customer satisfaction are the qualities the company exemplifies.
The choices for your project are almost endless at Crawford-Hill
The staff at Crawford Hill would like to invite both new and visiting customers to visit their new showroom. Hours are 8:30a.m. to 5:00p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m. on Fridays.

Deli Delicacies
Bringing Only the Best to Lakeland Family Owned / 100% Customer Service, 100% Courtesy / Original Recipes / Fresh Daily The name may be a bit deceiving; Deli Delicacies is much more than a deli. And it’s much more than delicacies. It’s a distinguished combination of the two, with a quality starting with the ingredients, moving on to presentation, and finishing with a customer service not found anywhere else in our area. No wonder individuals come from surrounding communities for their cakes, locals enjoy an original-recipe lunch on their patio, and children love their cookies. Carlos and Gretchen Anglero are the owners of this special spot in Lakeland. Gretchen and her father began the restaurant in the mid-1980’s, starting with basic meats, cheeses and the like. They began experimenting with small cakes and other pastries here and there and noticed these items were moving off the shelves rather quickly. Carlos was a baker in Puerto Rico, and when he came to Florida he was brought into the restaurant as the pastry chef. Now the couple carries on the work with standards raised high. They have expanded not only the restaurant’s facility but also their menu as time has gone on, with Carlos still creating designs for the wedding cakes. “We work with the staff every day,” Carlos commented. “Our policy is 100% customer service, 100% courtesy. the time a customer walks in the door, I want them to feel like they were walking into their home and seeing their family.” Everything at Deli Delicacies is made from original recipes and is completely fresh every day. In working very closely with his staff, Carlos is able to make sure the standards of his business are always upheld. “I have taken whole cakes and thrown them into the garbage,” he stated. “No. If it doesn’t pass, then it doesn’t pass. Do it again, do it right. People pay for the quality they expect from us, and I want to make sure they get their money’s worth.” He feels each of the items his business offers must look and taste at the highest quality, before the customer is asked to pay the price. Carlos says many customers comment on the gourmet brownie bars, wedding cakes, and the pastries in general. If you’re interested in breakfast, you have a large variety of muffins, biscuits, croissants and bagels to choose from, along with specialty coffees. For lunch, select between specialty sandwiches, wraps and greens, along with a variety of pastries and much more in the gourmet case.

We don’t cut corners; I won’t compromise that at all for anything. We live for this company.” “We are a high-end company,” Carlos admits. “Yes, it’s a bit more pricey, but you can’t find this kind of quality anywhere else. People love it! Terry Sutorus gives clients relaxing massages
When Ruth Holmgren wanted a change from retail, she began managing a medical spa in Canada. When her husband was relocated to Tampa, she decided to open her own day spa. “I love this business. There is no better job where all you do is make people feel good,” she says.
With the grand reopening in April came grand new services; noticeably, the expanded spa side with full reception area. Providing a relaxing atmosphere, the spa is private and calming, focusing on advanced skin care. You can listen to soothing music while sipping on complimentary wine, coffee, soda, or water (beverages are complimentary with any service). Terry Sutorus, who came from The Artistry, uses a gentle approach to massages, providing trigger-point therapy, deep tissue, or Swedish massages. He can also do ear candling and has taken a course on advanced reflexology of the hands, feet, or face. Another new feature is the LED light system, blue light, infrared, or red light therapy designed to combat aging or acne. Also, oxygen therapy
Before she bought and renovated The Place of Beauty (located behind Buddy Freddy’s), Holmgren started BeComing Mobile Day Spa. A new idea to Florida with no other like it in the Tampa Bay area, BeComing is a 31-foot RV that will travel to your home, work, or special event to offer full salon services. You can book your appointment through The Place of Beauty.

is a new service, using serum purchased from the first doctor to start the line. It may be done alone or combined with microdermabrasion or facials. Channeling her experience in high-end retail, Holmgren wanted to bring an almost rare level of quality to Plant City. “You don’t have to go to Brandon or Tampa to get high-end service anymore. It’s right here in your backyard,” she says. Her focus is on making the customer feel important from the time they walk in the door. A warm greeting awaits you and all the beauty services you need can be found in one location. Aside from the spa, you can get your nails done before you get a haircut. With employees of all ages, it’s easy to match a variety of clients’ needs and desires. Skin care products, under the BeComing label, are also available. Products are of a cosmesudical grade, designed by dermatologists and only sold to licensed skin care professionals or dermatologists. The result is a marriage of feeling good with chemicals that actually do something. The site also offers PCA advanced skin care in chemical peels. Looking for that perfect look for a memorable photograph? The Place of Beauty can airbrush make-up with a matte finish. It is resistant to humidity and can even hide scars and tan lines on the face or body. Holmgren says, “If people feel good about how they look,

it affects their entire life and if you can be a part of that, I think it’s a great thing.” Holmgren herself still loves treating clients in the spa, even going back to school when she left Canada to get additional education required by Florida. The Place of Beauty offers monthly specials, featured in the Focus. For example, if you purchase a facial, you can receive a haircut or manicure for free. “Sometimes people think facials or pedicures are frivolous, but sometimes you need to take that time for yourself,” says Holmgren. She wants people to stop in and see what they have to offer, believing that once they come and try it, they will be coming back. “I want to bring a level of customer service that doesn’t begin until you exceed your customer’s expectations.”

The journey began.
Michael and Hugh both bring many years of experience into the business. Michael has owned and operated a landscape company in Lakeland for the past 8 years, using both trailers and lawn equipment. This landscape experience paved the way for Right Trailers, Inc. to welcome Husqvarna outdoor power equipment in 2006 to complement their trailer lineup. Hugh has been involved in both new and used car sales in the past and currently owns Central Florida Septic Tank Co., Inc., which has been serving Polk and Eastern Hillsborough County for over 20 years. “There are no shortcuts to attain that which you desire,” says Bill Saunders, one of the owners of Health Hutt. Now located at 604 S. Collins Street (on the corner of Collins and Alabama), Health Hutt was able to move into their new facility in December of 2006, which is four times larger than their old location. Not only is there more space, there is also more equipment and services offered. Do you like the outdoors? Would you like the competitiveness of working with a group? Then one of the Ultimate Fitness Camps is right for you. With others holding accountability, clients compete with each other, yet help each other further their fitness goals. Groups also provide a strong sense of encouragement. “The camaraderie with others and competitiveness pushes people and gives them more drive,” says Vickie Tew, another owner, who is certified in boot camp, group fitness, fitness over 50, women’s fitness, and more. The outside boot camp uses different equipment than inside classes and focuses on things like balance and agility, skills and strengths you need in everyday living. “You can’t touch the ground when you start, but you touch it when you finish,” ob-

alternative to a meal. There is a full Smoothie bar awaiting your arrival with a myriad of choices sure to satisfy any taste. Harmon states, “You can achieve your fitness goals at any age. It’s healthy everyday living. Age is not a factor.” This is why Health Hutt can cater to nearly any age, man or woman. They not only believe in helping a client achieve his or her goals, but they want to educate clients on why they are doing what they’re doing, so clients can learn to realistically set goals and achieve them on their own in the future.
Don’t like working in a group? Health Hutt offers one-on-one training tailored to individual clients’ needs. “We take the word personal trainer a little farther,” says Saunders. How clients achieve their goal is just as important as actually meeting that goal, and the Health Hutt has trained staff that are able to offer a variety of training styles to mesh with each client. “I would say three-fourths of our clients are repeat customers. They start seeing the results they want to see,” says Tew.
In fact, at the recent National Physique Committee (NPC) Central District Championship, Health Hutt’s teen competition team competed and had clients that placed in 1st and 4th. Harmon reminds us, “Healthy comes in so many different sizes, shapes, and forms.” By making an investment in Health Hutt, you’re making a lifelong investment in yourself.
Aside from the programs, Health Hutt still offers nutritional plans and supplements. There is also a new cardio room with new equipment that clients may use at any time. With many restaurants in Plant City, what determines your choice for a family dinner tonight, lunch with your office pals or the next place for your youth gathering? Kazbor’s Grille of Plant City is built around the concept of family. No one knows this better than our location’s managing partner, Jeff Cyman, who has been in the food service industry for 17 years and with Kazbor’s for five. “I left and went to work for another competitor,” Cyman confessed. “But the food quality was unbelievably different. I’m so passionate about food and my creations here. We make soup, salsa and chili fresh from scratch every single day. The competitor’s soups came out of a bag and their salsa from a can. Eric’s top priority is to take the time to review a customer’s overall financial history and structure a loan that’s right for them. Anyone can quote a rate or offer a popular loan product, but is it the right loan for the customer? That’s the most important question. Buying, building or refinancing a home can be one of the biggest financial transactions a person will ever make. But that doesn’t mean it should be scary, intimidating or difficult. In fact, it should be exciting, enjoyable and an experience that should be remembered for years to come. Especially for first-time homebuyers. With so many different means of obtaining a mortgage – through a bank, lender or online, how do you know which to choose? Go with someone you can trust, who will look out for your best interest, and be there for you after closing. Eric and his team have a combined total of over 50 years experience in the mortgage industry. With offices in Brandon and Lakeland, they have the ability to provide fast approvals, competitive rates and diversified products. As a partner in the home financing
process, each customer relationship is taken personally, according to Eric. Like any solid relationship, trust, commitment, listening, and dependability is among their highest priorities and they’re dedicated to keeping it that way. Market Street Mortgage was founded in 1986 and assists more than 20,000 families each year. With more than 60 offices throughout the country, they can provide customers with the cost benefits, purchasing power and financial stability of a large institution, while also providing the flexibility of a locally-based firm. Northstar Enterprises, Inc. Guiding You Through Any Renovation
20 Years Experience / Services Central Florida / Family Business / Commercial & Residential
When Paul Broda heard the name Northstar through his car radio one morning in 1989, he knew it was the perfect title for his new business venture. Breaking away from a company partner was tough, and he needed a new title that would stand the test. Almost 20 years later, his son Brett is joint-owner of the company along with him, and although Northstar has worked mainly in the commercial field up until this point, they are ready to offer their services to all the residents of Plant City. “I bought half of the company about 4 years ago,” Brett, who’s been working with his dad full time since he graduated high school in 1997, commented. Both men are key players in Northstar as it stands today. With large commercial projects completed in Clearwater, Tampa and Brandon, and an office in Seffner, Northstar has the capability to service all of the Central Florida area.
Brett explained what the company is hired to do. “When somebody moves out, we are the ones who are called in. We re-paint, we clean, we replace countertops and cabinets if need be. We take the old out when the old tenant is leaving and make everything look great for the next person who will be living there.” “This is a family business,” Brett continued. “My family has always been in construction. This is something that kind of fell in my lap after I graduated, through my dad, but then I figured out I really enjoyed what I was doing.” Although Northstar has worked in other areas, they have completed many projects in Plant City, as well. Check out Knott’s Sporting Goods, Coffee 101 or Edwards, Platt & Raulerson’s offices to see just a few examples of their excellent handiwork. Currently boasting 12 employees, Northstar still tailors their sched-

ule to the customer’s needs. “All my guys check in with me in the mornings,” Brett explained. “I schedule them according to whatever time frame my customer is working with. Most times we’re even ahead of schedule. No matter what, we are definitely on time.” Also a full-service painting business, Northstar pays close attention to residential homes, inside and out. You can count on their experience to produce a job done well, properly and within your time restraints. With a wide array of experience, from 1,000-unit apartment complexes down to small bungalow-style homes, Northstar has seen it all, and they’re ready to take on whatever renovation issues you are facing, whether they are located at your home or at your place of business. You may be looking at buying your dream home, yet the amount of work that needs to be done on the shell seems overwhelming. Perhaps you want to fix up one of your rentals, but just don’t have the time to dedicate to the project. Maybe your family is in need of upgrades on your current home, and you want a company you can trust to come in and do the job the right way. Northstar can help in any of these instances. Why does Brett take such pride in his business? “This is my name we’re talking about,” he stated firmly. “I stay on top of things; I don’t want a bad name for me or for my family. This is Plant City. I’ve grown up here; I’ve been here my whole life. I hope people know what I’m doing now. I’m ready to focus on my hometown.”

Payne Air Conditioning & Heating, Inc. “We’re There When You Need Us”
Longtime Service / Award-Winning / 24/7 Emergency Service / Many Options Available
Payne Air Conditioning & Heating, Inc. has been serving Lakeland and Polk County since 1936. They also serve East Hillsborough County, working within a 30-mile radius. They have been located at 1048 E. Oleander Street in Lakeland for 18 years. “We’ve been in the community a long time and we’re not going anywhere,” says John Scott, Vice President and Installation Manager. Their web site is www.PayneAir.com. With 110 employees, Payne’s large staff is able to service everyone’s needs. They are a long-time, factory-authorized Carrier dealer, winning a national Carrier distribution dealer award for excellent service and installation. All of their mechanics are NATE-certified and factory-trained. “We do things the right way,” boasts Scott. Upon your initial call, a service technician will quickly arrive at your house to evaluate and assess whether you are in need of a repair or a replacement. They will provide you with all possible options. Payne offers flat rate pricing, 24/7 emergency service, and is able to service all makes and models. Payne is equipped with an on-site warehouse with a good stock of equipment on hand, and a sheet metal shop. Aside from the Carrier 5-star warrantee, Payne also offers a 10 year extended warrantee on parts and labor.
Vice President John Scott
With the average life of an air conditioning unit being approximately 8-10 years, and with the cost of power increasing all the time, people need options that will save them money, especially when you think long-term. “Most people don’t take into consideration the increased efficiency of new units,” states Scott. believing them to be the best. Carrier is credited with being the inventors of air conditioning, when Willis Carrier created drawings for the first mechanical air conditioner in 1902. They are now the largest air conditioning manufacturer in the world. However, what really stands Carrier out from the rest is that they were the first to offer Puron, an environmentally-friendly refrigerant and substitute for Freon, which is being phased out of production, according to the Clean Air Act of 1990. Puron is government-approved, meeting EPA standards of the future. It has shown a decrease in the cost of future service, a valuable service since replacing Freon-22 refrigerant can come with potentially rising costs as it becomes obsolete in the future. Puron is exceptionally reliable. Systems using it have the lowest incidence of service in Carrier’s entire product line, showing less than 0.5% failure rates and more than 250,000 units installed. Not only does it enhance efficiency, it is also 16 times quieter than typical air conditioning units of other manufacturers. Houses containing Carrier systems with quality, up-to-date Puron products may even increase the resale value of your home. Aside from new units, Payne also offers efficiency upgrades and indoor air quality products, which work in conjunction with the air conditioning unit. Payne sells advanced filtration systems and ultra-

Royal Maid supervisors and maids
When Peter Mottley retired from the police in the UK after being responsible for policing an area of 100 square miles, having spent time in drugs and vice squads, he never dreamt that he would now, with his wife Pauline, be the owner of The Royal Maid Service located in Brandon. Yes, like many UK residents, he came over on holiday, but it was not until he saw an advert locally that said “Come and work and live in Paradise” that he saw the opportunity to drastically change his life and that of his children and grandchildren to come. Well, that was in 2003, and on 2nd August, 2004, the new Royal Maid office was opened in Brandon, and now is the largest of 34 Royal Maid offices in Florida, employing 18 full time maids and cleaning close to 30 houses a day. work from Monday to Friday from 8 am until 5 pm. Occasionally, we work on a Saturday as well. When asked what makes The Royal Maid Service so successful, Peter responds, “We care; we care for our customers and we care for our employees, who range in age from 20 to 55. I like to think of our Royal Maid Service as a family working together. We share their experiences and they all know if they have any problems that we are always willing to listen and offer our advice. I am a great believer in customer service and will always speak to customers; many have my personal cell phone number and can call me with any questions. It is my responsibility to our customers to employ who I would call nice people and who I would be comfortable cleaning my house. That is my promise to our many customers. We also run a bonus system here for the girls and encour-

We get approximately 200 who call each month with comments such as: OUTSTANDING, A REAL PLEASURE TO RETURN HOME, THE HOUSE SMELLS SO CLEAN, WE CAN NOW GO OUT AND ENJOY OURSELVES AND NOT WORRY ABOUT CLEANING. Comments like this make it all worthwhile.
So if you are looking for a regular maid service, want a clean house for a special occassion, not sure what gift to give on Mother’s Day, birthdays or other celebrations, have your house up for sale and want help to freshen it up, or when you move out or when you move in, why don’t you give The Royal Maid Service a call at 813-657-6925. Pauline is the one who calls and gives the free home visit for the estimate and she is always readily available if there is a question about the cleaning or what products we use, or even if a customer wishes advice on what products they should use themselves. “What makes the Royal Maid Service different,” explains Pauline, “is, as the name implies, the Englishness of our service. Just call our office and speak to Peter and you will know what I mean. Our girls work in teams of two, which consist of a supervisor and a maid working to clean your house. Our teams wear uniforms and travel in a company vehicle. We supply all the products which have been used by The Royal Maid Service for the last 18 years.” She adds, “We have been cleaning houses in the Plant City area for some time now, but have never advertised here until last month. The Car Store, Inc
Where Everyone is Treated like Family Family Owned and Operated / Honest / Hospitable
/ Rooted in Plant City
The Car Store is located at 804 E. MLK Blvd in Seffner
The reason most people love Plant City is the small town atmosphere. It’s a feeling that the people around you truly care and are always hospitable. Considering that The Car Store has been in business for nearly 20 years, they have been more than successful at applying these principles to the way they run their business. The Car Store has been family owned and operated since it opened its doors to the community. In 1989, Art and Barbara Watkins purchased the business from Donna Jean Crocker. Initially, many people told Art that he could never run a used car business because he was too honest. He had been in the irrigation business for years and had recently sold his company. During that time, he earned the reputation of being honest, fair and friendly, not quite the stereotypical used-car salesman description. They started as a small buy-here, pay-here lot and have certainly grown. Their initial location was right next to the Strawberry Festival Grounds on MLK. When their daughter Shellie was 15, she started working at The Car Store after school and on Saturdays. Art made her an offer: to buy her two cars from the auction and teach her the business from the purchase to the sale and delivery. After she sold them she would pay him back his investment and could either keep the profit or use it to buy another car. She decided to invest it back into the business and has since changed the face of The Car Store. The laid-back atmosphere of The Car Store is always friendly. Don’t be surprised if when you stop in Morgyn is playing with Monica, the loving, blind dog who is always wondering around the shop. BUSINESS FOCUS PLANT CITY • Part 2 of 3 PG 32
car business. Together they brought fresh ideas to the family business. Then, in 2002, when Art and Barbara’s other daughter, Laci, was married, her husband Buddy came on board, too. When you’re at The Car Store, if you aren’t actually family, then you certainly are treated like it. Past customers of The Car Store would agree that you are never, ever pressured into buying a vehicle. All the prices of the cars are clearly marked in all the windows. Nothing is secret or hidden about the vehicle purchase. In fact, to assure that no one feels pressured, The Car Store only has one salesman so that employees aren’t battling for customers. You won’t have to be sold into a vehicle at The Car Store. The cars and trucks sell themselves. They’ll just make sure that someone gets you a glass of tea or a soda and sits on the front porch with you to answer any questions you have. Shellie helps long-time customer and friend Sam Brienza on the purchase of his fifth vehicle from The Car Store.
The first car Art bought her was a $1995.00 car, a typical price for a car on their lot. Eventually, Shellie wanted to start selling more expensive cars. Despite Art’s skeptic attitude, she bought a higher-end car and it sold immediately. That was the end of the road for Shellie and Art regarding selling lower-end cars. Her inventory went from selling at $1995 to $4995. It sounds small, but it was a giant step for them 15 years ago. If you drive out to their new location on MLK in Seffner, you will see a completely different inventory than you would have found in the 90’s. You are much more likely to find a $20,000 car than a $2000 car. The Car Store specializes in trucks and SUVs with all the bells and whistles you desire. Most of their trucks are sold at the same or lower price that you will pay for a stock vehicle from a franchise dealership, but with all the accessories you would spend thousands to do yourself, such as tires, wheels, lift, and rim upgrades. It’s not rare at all to see a souped-up truck driving around Plant City with The Car Store logo on the tailgate. By far, the reason most people love The Car Store is because of the way they are treated. No matter who you are, they will treat you like family. In 1999, Shellie married Todd Herndon, who grew up around the used-
Inevitably, when you buy a car at The Car Store, you will always speak with at least one of the owners. They always make themselves available for their customers. A true sign of that is the fact that 70% of their business is repeat customers. In many cases, they are now selling cars to the third and fourth generations of families. Once you buy a vehicle from The Car Store, you won’t want to buy a used car from anyone else. The Car Store, Inc. is located at 804 MLK Blvd E in Seffner. The UPS Store
What Can Brown Do For You? Customer Service Priority / Habla Español / New Shipping Containers / Community Involvement Where do you turn when you need to ship a 7-foot mannequin? The UPS Store, located at 117 W. Alexander Street, next to Sweetbay, has seen it all. They can ship almost any item for you, providing the utmost care for your package, along with quality customer service. Once a Mailboxes, Etc., the store became a UPS retailer five years ago. While operating under UPS guidelines and offering UPS prices, each of the approximately 3,000 stores across the nation are individually owned. Debbie Siebenthal and her husband, Bradley, purchased Plant City’s branch three years ago. Originally from Tampa, Siebenthal moved to Plant City with her family, which also includes daughter Grace, 5, and son Michael, just over a year old. “We wanted a long-term investment for our family and something that would be good for the community,” says Siebenthal. Customer service is definitely the highest priority and the friendly atmosphere is what keeps people coming back. “We keep tabs on customers and what’s going on with their family.” In fact, many customers come and ask specifically for one employee, Dorothy Rogers, who has worked at the location for 8 years. Rogers is the document creation expert and the guru on packing and shipping.

She is wonderful at providing friendly service with any need that may arise. Simon Dragustinovis has been an employee for a little over a year and agrees that it is a great place to work. He states, “The people are friendly and you really get to know your repeat customers; it’s nice to see them around town.” Dragustinovis is bilingual, so Spanish-speaking customers feel welcome. And if you need him to carry a box to your vehicle, he’ll gladly oblige. While most people think of shipping when they hear UPS, there are many more services offered. Says Siebenthal, “We do the whole gamut of things designed for businesses, as well as the mom who has 18 things on her list that day.” Standard U.S. Postal Services are available, as well as 24-hour access to personal mailboxes. Documents can be designed, printed, scanned, shredded, bound, or laminated. Businesses in need of forms, checks, or letterhead need look no farther. You can also purchase boxes of all kinds, including decorative boxes. The store offers notary services and even has house accounts, where frequent customers simply leave their packages and receive a bill at the end of the month. The store will even pack your package for you, each coming with standard insurance and a tracking number, a feature charged for by the Postal Service.

Currently, there are only three test markets across the country, with the Tampa Bay area being one. The UPS Store in Plant City uses this innovative design to ensure your package arrives safely. What makes the store truly remarkable is the self-initiated community involvement. The business has supported the United Food Bank, the Pregnancy Care Center and several other community organizations. They are now working on their on-going Military Project, where children are decorating boxes that will be shipped to Iraq, supplying soldiers with various non-perishable goods.
