Plant City isn’t immune to the state’s exploding housing market. As buyers are priced out in the area’s bigger cities, they’re seeking somewhere to raise their families with all of the amenities of the big city and the charm of a small town. Those buyers are settling in Plant City and our market is feeling the effects.

According to Redfin, Plant City’s market is somewhat competitive, with houses selling after 30 days on the market compared to 10 days last year. The site reports homebuyers are moving to Plant City from New York City, Chicago, and Washington DC, and residents are moving out of town to cities such as Sarasota, Ocala, and Asheville, NC. The median sell price is $360,000, up 9% yearover-year; Tampa has had 2.6% growth over last year, and Lakeland has seen a decrease of 5.7%.
