Hinduism is Karma, while trafﬁc is a drama. Here, the streets’ billboards are colourful all year round, and Bali is a place of art in stone and song out loud. I will try swimming with dolphins as tourists do, yet I recognize, the locals work on cruise ships too. A local business is standard entrepreneuring, though pineapples and batiks* seldom buy a European swing. Feeling blessed with my background, the views are amazing. Denmark is unknown at best, while Germany is an everyday guest. So they ask me “Guten Tag”? And I reply “Dænmark”. Everyday work is a warm thing, and it can be quite taxing. So beware, this is work in the Australian vacation ring. I am the viewer of western retreat, while still inside the ofﬁce heat. Still, iced tea and fried rice is simply part of the daily custom, contributing to the laidback Bali hum with a sore scooter bum.

Internship Insights I don’t think anyone has to travel 12.000 kilometres to obtain a sense of purpose and reconnect with themselves. Anymore. Yet, all I initially wanted out of my internship was an experience like none I’ve ever heard of, and to get the unspoiled encounter of everyday life in a new country – I was thinking it would magically hand me something. My time in Bali has handed me something, but it is not so much the place as it is the people around me. Getting to know the story and possible fate of my local and international neighbours motivates me. And I will let you know that the most boring story of Bali is the one told by the backpacker who passes by the tourist ofﬁce with a full camera and a full bank account. And they pay over-price for everything too. What you really need in order to obtain an insight from Indonesia is your personal, mental baggage above your physical one. A clean slate in this new place just might come from experiencing messier and less fortunate ones, or truly happy ones. Hopefully a new beginning is at home for me, after my one and thousand adventures in Bali have taught me the beneﬁts of being more and having less all at once. Everyday communication with family and friends has a different importance now, as the time away from ‘standard’ life is infused with the Balinese ceremonies throughout the day, and what can only be described as thousands of scooters. The language is fun, the people are really friendly and I appreciate the ocean all around as it somehow reminds me of the North Sea.

Things change rapidly; so don’t take trouble to seriously, things tend to work out in the end. Only when you are honest, can you truly be satisﬁed; if you are unhappy, do something about it! The Internet deceives; real life is a whole lot different. Think twice about your daily amenities, you might loose them (water, electricity, shade).

At once I try to enjoy the moment, be excited about the future, and grateful for the past. The greatest challenge now is to utilize my time here and accomplish the things that dirty dishes and TV, tiredness and commitments would prevent me from getting done on a regular day in Denmark.

Office life is quite a challenge in itself, as I’ve been fortunate to have a lot of responsibility. Given my personal - and very likely Danish sense of organisation, timeliness, traffic and the polite office conduct becomes a test. ‘Thank you’ (‘Terima Kasih’) is the key in conversations, and while you think you are making yourself clear, ‘yes’ only means ‘accepted’ and not, as you may anticipate, ‘understood’. More specifically, it is hard to juggle the simple colloquial language in the street versus corporate English at work. That being said, one quickly realises that the field of design, PR and marketing has two divisions here – grand and tiny. This is evident when I go to local massage places and use small business scooter hires, while doing work for resort spa’s and famous jazz pianists.

The plus of Balinese business life is the human curiosity and immediate network interest. The hard working public inspires you to do your utmost best. The community has a saying that states: “No matter your position in a company, you are an employee; but in your own business, you are the boss”, explaining their drive for independent entrepreneurship. This also means that my ‘person to learn from’ dream is now ‘an army of go-to-people with a different expertise’ reality.

Mandalas have generally one central starting point where absolutely everything begins from: shapes, forms and patterns. Mandalas can contain both geometric and organic forms. They can also be filled with images that carry meaning for the person who is creating it. In essence, mandalas represents the connection between our inner worlds and outer reality.

Some people, when they get bored, they either rent a movie, come up with a hobby or go exploring. Others, such as business development engineering students donâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t get bored that easily, but when they do, they go beyond studying engineering. Their interests and passions expand further than the university walls, beyond the academic knowledge they build up in school, and their hunger for more knowledge is like a well-oiled machine that is constantly looking for a more challenging job.

here is a tradition among the BDE - Business Development Engineering students - a tradition that emerged from their need to explore, learn, and trying new things. It is not entirely sure when exactly this yearly tradition started, but it is fair to say it is at least eight years old. Most of the previous trips targeted Asian countries, mostly China, but with a clear focus on the BRIC countries (i.e. Brazil, Russia, India, China); still most of the BDE students have already checked Asian countries on their travel-list from personal trips, and it was considered a rather mainstream destination at that moment. Previous yearâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s trip pattern had to be broken, so South America emerged as a challenge and a new ground for the BDE students to go foraging for new business insights. It is something that the students do by themselves, they plan and orga-

nize it, and they try to fit it in their personal calendars, in between studies and projects. Why? Because there is a limit of saturation to what you can learn in school, and BDE students decided that they have to go out of their comfort zone, if they want to break the ice in their early entrepreneur experiences. Coming back to the 2014 BDE trip, Brazil was chosen as the destination country, to visit and gather as much knowledge and practical hands-on experience as possible. The 16 students started off in delegating all the tasks necessary in organizing the trips. It is a team effort and all students help with what their time allows. Out of the three weeks, the first two are for fulfilling the decided plan, which is the practical purpose of the trip - gathering as much relevant business information as possible, and the last week is for leisure trips. Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paolo were the two main cities on

the plan, which were to provide with the necessary knowledge in regards to three categories of interest: Governmental Issues, Education and Business Practices.

IF YOU WIN THE HEART OF ONE BRAZILIAN, YOU ARE ON YOUR ROAD TO SUCCESS

The whole purpose of the trip is to learn about another’s country development, culture, business particularities and other specific details that are best obtained on the spot. The main points of visits were agreed upon with the help of the Danish Consulate in Brazil, the Danish Chamber of Commerce in Brazil, as well as the university and other personal network contacts. In order to cover educational, commercial and governmental policies issues that could arise when an entrepreneur would attempt to do business in Brazil, several significant

places were visited. Among them, the university in Rio de Janeiro, an innovation center and approximately almost 10 company visits ensured the collection of valuable information. The visited businesses were very distinct, ranging from big wellknown companies such as Volkswagen, to start-ups, social-entrepreneurs and NGO’s. One notable example is a start-up of a Canadian entrepreneur, who opened a social-entrepreneurship business in Brazil. The innovative product was a solar-powered hearing aid device. The business mainly employed hearing-impaired people, due to their high hand-eye coordination with detailed jobs that required attention to visual details and careful hand coordination. But, gathering practical information on how to be a successful entrepreneur in Brazil isn’t enough. The human factor has to be taken into consideration. When the BDE students went to Brazil for their early practical experience ‘hunt’, they had certain preconceptions and expectations of the country they were about to visit. What they learned online was a picture of a highly criminal environment, which imposed high precautions and attention to details. The students were pleasantly surprised to find out that Brazilians value the human contact, even in business. Language is a mandatory factor when you start a business in Brazil, and more than that it is your capacity to be social, culturally-integrated and network a lot. Brazilian entrepreneurs are very exciting business partners; they are engaged, spontaneous, and open to risks and taking chances. In a country with a high-density capital population of over 6 million, if you won the heart of one Brazilian, you are on your road to success, because the word will spread fast.

ONE MIGHT ASK WHAT COMES OUT OF TRIPS LIKE THIS?

any of you might not know it, many of you might already be a member, but artboost is a unique idea that has been growing for the past 2 years. Three BDE students, Kim, Anders and Mikkel, are the minds behind this exciting new business. Each of them has a unique skill that made the business possible. Anders is mainly responsible of the sales part of the business, while Kim and Mikkel both do work on the website coding and the technical part. But it is really the team effort that makes things work in perfect harmony. The website, which was being developed from early 2013, has finally been launched in October 2014. It is an e-bay like marketplace, except itâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s specifically targeted to a certain product â&#x20AC;&#x201C; ART! One of the things that the three young entrepreneurs discovered on their trip to Brazil was that art is a product found almost everywhere, and with so many

talented artists and so many interested buyers, a place to market this high-demand product, lacked. That is how artboost came to be - it is a place for all artists to put their art up for sale, in order to make art accessible at anytime and anywhere. Since its launch, the community grew to approximately 300 registered members, with over 1000 pieces of artwork, which originate from 16 different nationalities, and is available worldwide. The website was built with a user-friendly focus, where you can give your opinion on the artwork, or even interact with the artist and ask him/her how did they come up with the idea behind the art piece, ask about recommendations for framing or get any kind of feedback and advice. At the moment the site is growing and the number of artists is increasing, comprising even some of the local TEKO students. The young en-

trepreneurs tried to create the feel of an art community as the next cool thing, and rely on satisfied users to spread the word. E-mail, Facebook and several cinema ads in Herning and Århus helped boost the initial marketing effort of the freshly launched business. The business is slowly expanding, as more and more users join and increase the artboost marketplace, and due to a current strategic decision, it is still free to become a member; the website receives only a 15 % fee in commission, which is close to the market lowest rate at the moment. Kim shares his experience with us and finds it vital for success, to physically be in the place you want to do business, in order to feel the vibe of the country and its culture. The epiphany comes when you are physically there and are able to gain knowledge from the surroundings of the environment. Learning, understanding and having a personal contact with the local culture where you

seek to open a new business is vital, in order to find the key to the puzzle and have that epic EUREKA moment! In school, students normally get academic knowledge in subjects such as business, marketing and other economic related topics, but it is trips such as the one BDE students have every year that give you the on-hand practical experience you would never learn from the books. Many students might have a brilliant idea, but are too insecure about its potential. It is stories like these that come to prove that anything is possible. By looking at what a united BDE ‘community’ of students managed to achieve in so many years, by combining their personal travel time to get more insight in the practicalities of international business, shows that each one of us must push his own boundaries in order to create something innovative and unique.

IT IS VITAL FOR SUCCESS, TO PHYSICALLY BE IN THE PLACE YOU WANT TO DO BUSINESS, IN ORDER TO FEEL THE VIBE OF THE COUNTRY AND ITS CULTURE.

The library has never been that welcoming, cosy and friendly before. At least for an average Eastern-European student, who automatically shuts her mouth, switches oﬀ her phone and starves for hours because it’s obviously forbidden to have anything to eat in the local library. In Herning Bibliotekerne however, all visitors, which are roughly aged between 0 and 90, are relaxing, having a cup of fair trade coﬀee and are able to listen to some live music if they are lucky enough to catch a concert, while strolling among the shelves filled with extraordinary books. Having the chance to meet one of the extremely helpful librarians, Tina Daugaard, who works in the library since 2001, was a great opportunity to learn about the institution and the concept behind it.

About the Collection and the System Herning Bibliotekerne has an impressive selection of literature and music, taking the size of the town into consideration. The staﬀ is definitely aware of the fact that the number of internationals is quite high, so the library collection consists of English, German, Russian, Spanish, Italian and a surprisingly great number of Tamil (one of the languages practiced in Sri Lanka), in form of written books and audiobooks in the genres of fiction and nonfiction as well. There is no need to be sad, if the book you are searching for is not on the shelf; there is a possibility to order any kind of material or book that might not be available on the shelf. Practically ANY! You just need to ask for it and the library will sort it out for you. For free. If you happen to be the kind who prefers to have everything in virtual form, you have just found a fourleave clover. There is an opportunity to read newspapers from all over the world in PDF form through a system called ‘Library Press Display’; you can download music from bibzoom.dk and stream movies on filmstriben.dk. For free. Again! And you know what else is for free? You can have your own librarian for half an hour to help you find the material you search for. ‘Book en bibliotekar’, easy as 1-2-3. One thing is needed though to enjoy all the help and care - a valid membership in the library. To become a member you simply need to move your body, breath some fresh air, get into the library with your CPR card and any of your IDs with a picture on it and get registered in just about two minutes. About the Display and Concept The ground floor is the place that connects the visitors with the city and the library. An interesting and interactive creative space for everyone in need of inspiration. Here you can find happy kids running around and throwing huge sponge letters at each other, elderly ladies chit-chatting over a cup of tea and knitting equipment, hardworking students reading in the Silent Room and groups of young people brainstorming in the bright sunshine on a comfy sofa. At the so called ‘exposure spots’, the selection of books and music is always changing and is always inspired by important events happening in Denmark. During the Copenhagen Fashion Week TEKO (for the old customs, VIA Design for the new birds) had a dress on display surrounded by fashion books, followed by the Winter Jazz - a jazz inspired mixtape exhibition.

About the Events and Activities Functioning as a public midpoint, the library oﬀers interesting events for its foreign visitors. International Introductions are held every last Thursday of the month, and they provide insight of basic topics like the facilities, the booking method and rules of the library. Also on a monthly basis, Thursday Lounge takes place by giving a chance to a local musician to perform unplugged. Besides these events, you can catch a gig anytime randomly in the green piano corner, just as it happened last Wednesday, perfectly out of the blue. Attend Danish courses in the library? It is never too late to start if you haven’t got around it yet. So giddy up and join the classes. For free, remember? You could even have novels written in Danish on beginner level to help you improve your language skills.

About the Café ‘Mama Said’ from The Shirelles, candles and flowers all over the place and the irresistible smell of fresh coffee. That is the magical corner of the library, where baristas roast coffee to add a more fulfilling and awakening experience to your reading. Behind the scenes, there is a strictly controlled process going on, based on the strategy and cooperation with Coffee Collective Copenhagen. The system works better than fair trade, since the owners of the cafés visit the farmers personally (in Guatemala and Kenya in our case) to check if everything is sourced from a reliable origin, and the beans are in the same size. Don’t think that I am that smart, Kenneth, one of the three baristas helped me out, and he also shared the secret of the big monster. It is their own coffee roaster, which is capable of roasting up to 10 kg of coffee in a single run, by providing the best and most ethical coffee in town on a budget friendly price. The idea of the concept of having a café inside of the Library came from the institution itself and ‘Café Aroma’ won the tender. The Library and Aroma are very good neighbours, living in perfect symbiosis. Aroma is usually busy, packed with students and readers, but it also fosters the relaxed vibe of the library.

About the Success “It was stressful to think about how the citizens of Herning will welcome the new library”, said Tina. But no one from the staﬀ had expected such an impressive success. The hard work, the long hours spent on developing a new concept and long months of reconstruction made it to the finish line. It is a diﬀerent library from the old one and also from every other library in Denmark. It became part of the town very quickly, and it grew to be more than a library: it’s a public spot, a meeting point and ultimately, everyone’s first choice. “People did not know exactly what they were missing, but they definitely knew something was!”

There is a saying that a hungry student is a good student…ok, an actual saying like that does not exist but it has something to do with being a student… Let’s expand on that. First of all, I would like to make sure that everyone reading this article is aware of brands like ‘Budget’, ‘Lidl’ and ‘Dansk Pilsner’ (yes, I know it is beer… it should have been at the forefront of the list, that’s how connected it is with the student life). I will try and present you with a couple of tips on how to eat cheap and save some of that money for Dansk Pilsner for example.

FROZEN PIZZA Now, let me get this straight, there are two types of people: people that are totally ﬁne with what a frozen Pizza* can offer and those that have a little master chef inside of them, as they try to upgrade their Pizzas with all kinds of favorites. Frozen Pizza is a great option for beginners, and you can always count on this champion low cost breakfast, lunch, dinner. * Yes, I capitalize the word Pizza because I give it the respect it deserves.

2. SCRAMBLED EGGS SUNDAY It’s Sunday morning and that means there’s actual time to eat something. Open your fridge, check the expiration date on every product you have in there (leave the beer ‘cuz you’ll need it later), and then just put all the stuff together in some scrambled eggs. It can work both as a great breakfast and lunch (depending on your wake up call) and you manage not to waste any food, which simply makes you a better person already.

3. SPAGHETTI DELL’ AMORE! One other good friend of any student, pasta, is literally the food that goes with everything. Again, some veggies, cheeses, any kind of meat and you are good to go. Plus, if you’re lucky of course, it can also help you impress your crush. However, I would advise you to test the meal on other people ﬁrst, before serving it to that special one. 4. SANDWICH MACHINE Toast bread, ham, cheese, champignons and ketchup, all go to the legendary sandwich machine. Job done, epic food, epic price, epic delivery time, I do not think I should dwell on this any longer. 5. THE ASIAN TOUCH Rice you can get for very little money – look for an orange box with white lettering that says ‘Budget’. On top of that, you will need some meat, some veggies and you can already feel a bit like Gordon Ramsay, am I right? Give them a good mix and what you’ll get is a great dish on a low budget. If it doesn’t taste very well however, then I hope you listened to me in point no. 2, because right now is the time you need that beer. 6. SOUPS Probably the healthiest on this list and rather easy to make, you can prepare such a meal out of anything left in your kitchen – deﬁnitely a money-saver! This meal will not require as much time to prepare, but nothing that a bit of patience can’t solve.

7. BE NICE TO PEOPLE … Because you never know when you’ll need their help. Gather a group of friends that are also trying to figure out how to save money while eating tasty. You can agree on a date for all to cook together, as it can be a great possibility to meet new people and learn new cuisines from different countries. Splitting costs will also help you put some money aside. 8. SAA Participating at events like Cook n’ Talk or Cultural Nights will not only give you the chance to eat something other than what you are used to, but you will also meet new people, essential in order to follow up point no. 7. There you can learn new recipes, but also gain the boost of confidence to cook them by yourself in the future, too. 9. YOUTUBE There are plenty of online channels meant to help students on how to eat and cook on a budget, and I am 100% sure you will find something fitting for your lifestyle and culinary preferences. 10. CANTEEN Still, if you are a very lazy or very busy person, you can always count on the university canteen to put an end to your hunger. But keep this in mind as a short-term solution; at some point you will have to come back to your own kitchen and cook something on your own.

Part 3 The

air vent was cramped and long, her movements leaving deep prints in the dust. Beneath her she could hear the small noises of Brad and Niemand’s fight with the three guards and a small sense of surprise still lingered after watching the latter fight. She knew he couldn’t be just a sniper; John was too smart for that. There was so much more to him, things like grace and control could be the beginning of a description, but wouldn’t even cover half of it. There was strength nobody would suspect in the muscles beneath the sunburnt skin, strength that one can only obtain through a different kind of training, a special kind. This would explain so much. But she dared to think of it no further. An old grill was blocking the path and she just grabbed it with both hands and tensed her fingers. She forced it out almost noiselessly and continued crawling through the dust towards the small spot of light. Once she gazed downwards, the figure of a sitting man became clear in the harsh neon light. When she saw him watching the rooms, she went behind without the slightest emotion, knowing it was not going to go over easy. She took a deep breath. Her eyes shot open at the noise of something flying sharply through that air. The man’s head fell on the screen, dark, uneven strands of hair covering his

face, a few falling down his shoulders where there was a distinctive metal shine. An empty vial stuck out of the white shirt. She felt her blood boiling, melting through her veins for a moment, as Niemand’s face appeared at the edge of her vision. She didn’t miss a single muscle moving when his face contracted in a smile, a triumphant, smug and ‘everything-she-disliked-about-him’ kind of smile. At the same time, as his mouth was changing shape, she could feel her nails piercing through the skin of her palm, as she tried to steady her breathing and diminish the anger. There were clouds in her mind, obscuring everything, the place where she knew her training was, the same training that kept her in place instead of sliding out of the vent and wiping that smile, or any other expression, off the man’s face. There was still disbelief there, as she just couldn’t have imagined him stepping over Bradford’s orders. And where was the man anyway? Why wasn’t he keeping his dog on a leash? Just as blood drops were leaking from underneath her nails and Niemand was reaching for the sleeping man’s head to pull it back from the table, Kay saw what she should have seen from the moment she got there. The dark haired man was not a stranger. In fact, he was someone she knew very well so it was no surprise when his hand shot up to catch Niemand’s arm and twist it back. It was unclear if the sniper cried out in pain or shock but Kay’s smile was quite certainly a satisfied one. It had been a long time since she last saw Shroud. Tall to the point of strange, lithe and defiant, his smooth features looked as if they had been carved with a sword. He knew very well she was there, dark eyes locking on darker ones. Niemand was intent on putting up a fight, though. He

propped his foot against Shroud’s chair and sent him across the room, breaking out of the grip. He reached for the rifle slung across his back but his attacker was there before he even touched the trigger. A flurry of hits started so fast that she could barely distinguish them, so it was no wonder that the sniper was struggling. Deep down, Kay was happy to see him and this didn’t stem from the fact that he was wiping the floor with Niemand. The surface of her thoughts, though, was clouded by a simple and honest sense of dread. She feared the moment she would have to come out of the vent and fight Shroud. Whatever he had to say, it was going to hurt more than any of his hits. Despite landing a hard, metal tipped, military issued boot, straight into Shroud’s stomach, Niemand couldn’t keep up with the skilled fighter. His mouth was lined with blood and the striking eyes were more glassy by the moment. Shroud was preparing for the last blow. Kay knew a cue when she saw one. She caught Shroud’s wrist before it connected with Niemand’s gut. The handsome face melted into a taunting smile, making her grip tighten until bones grinded against each other. - How nice to see you again, Katherine. Fake as it could be, his voice suddenly dropped a few octaves to a little more than a growl, even if it was on the other side of the fight. Niemand used the pause to catch his breath and stare in disbelief. - I’ve heard they call you K. now, but then again you’ve always been the cooler one. There were too many emotions coursing through the man’s eyes for her to distinguish anymore. It was haunting to say the least and she felt as if his eyes swallowed her whole. She barely registered Niemand’s question and it was hard to tell if it was aimed at her or not. - Who are you? Shroud pulled his arm away but she didn’t give in. Masking shame with anger, she twisted and dragged him into a bony fist. There was no way to dodge, so she watched the pale skin break under her hit as her old friend and new enemy coughed the blood away. - Answer the man, Katherine. And don’t get shy. Tell him all about the soul crushing, gut searing kind of treachery you fed me last year. The kind that you’ll serve others in the future too. - Always dramatic, Shroud. No need for such big words. We trained together, we fought together and then I left and you didn’t follow. As simple as that. Kay knew that she had been too hard, but what else

was there to say. Her words seemed to end Shroud’s need for conversation. He was so fast that she only blocked his kick out of instinct rather than skill, but he was too angry to have a strategy. It was proof of his talent that he still managed to be this good. One hit landed square into her chest, sending her through the table and into the wall. Splinters stuck into her arms. Papers flew around. Shroud didn’t waste a second to allow her to get up. Instead he kicked her stomach so hard that black was the only thing she saw. If he knew that he was only doing this because she allowed him to consume the anger, he didn’t show anything. The game had to stop though. Moving away from the next punch, Kay grabbed his throat, digging her nails into the soft skin, and using the momentum, she smashed her knee into his ribs. Doubling over as his lungs desperately searched for air, Kay laced her finger together and brought down a hard blow into his spine. Shroud fell to the floor, like a full stop to whatever sentence that remained unfinished between them. The adrenaline made her breath come out in short spans, as she eyed Niemand, ready for another fight. - If I’m such a joke, why are you not laughing?

The orange crunchy veggie we know today as ‘carrot’ has come a long way for thousands of years now. Believed to be originated somewhere in the muddy grounds of Afghanistan, the small forked root was initially purple and yellow, then purple, red, yellow, even white carrots were quite popular, all that before the Dutch growers stabilized it to it’s today known orange. Maybe another reason why Dutch people are so addicted to this color.

Nevertheless, a rather dull vegetable for many that were forced to eat it as kids for ‘good sight’, and who always ﬁshed it out of their soups “because it tasted so weird when boiled”’ - the carrot actually has many more beneﬁts to it to be uncovered. A vegetable so versatile, crunchy when raw and creamy when boiled or mashed, savory while also sweet, the carrot is the secret ingredient to your next threecourse meal. So get yourself some beta-carotene, antioxidants, start preparing for the blazing summer sun and stock up on some serious amounts of carrots.

CARROT Soup with Crispy Chickpeas Soup 2 tablespoons of olive oil 500gr carrots, peeled, diced or thinly sliced 1 small onion, ﬁnely chopped 2 small garlic cloves, peeled and smashed ¼ teaspoon ground coriander ½ teaspoon table salt (according to taste) 2 cups of vegetable broth Crispy Chickpeas ½ can of chickpeas, drained and paper towel dried 1 generous tablespoon (~15ml) of olive oil ½ teaspoon of coarse salt ¼ teaspoon of powdered pepper Yoghurt Dried tomatoes for garnish Recipe Heat the olive oil in a pot over medium heat. Add the carrots, onion, garlic, coriander, salt and cook for about 15 min, until they all begin to brown. Once the vegetables begin to brown, add the broth to the mixture. Boil until the carrots are tender, stirring occasionally for about 30 min. Meanwhile, heat your oven to 200 °C/ 425F degrees. Toss the chickpeas with one tablespoon of olive oil, salt and pepper until they’re all coated. Spread them on a baking sheet and roast them in the oven until they develop some color and become crisp. This can take anywhere from 10 to 20 min. Puree the soup in a blender until smooth. Pour into bowls. Add yoghurt and chickpeas.

CARROT Tart *

Handful of small carrots, peeled, whole or cut in half 2 tablespoons of olive oil Puff pastry Few parsley leaves Favorite seasoning

single layer on a baking tray. Carefully toss with olive oil and seasoning. Bake for a total of 20 min, and don’t forget to turn them around after the ﬁrst 10. Place the pastry rectangle on a baking sheet. Leave 1cm border. Prick the center area with a fork, place the carrots in, and put them in the oven for another approximately 20 min. Remove the pastry from the oven. Sprinkle with a few parsley leaves.

Recipe Heat oven to 180 °Celsius/ 390F degrees Put the carrots in a pot of boiling water and cook for 4-5 min until tender. Spread the carrots out in one

P.S: If you want to improve this version, just add tomato sauce or fried mushrooms as a base for your carrots. You can also top them with chopped roasted hazelnuts.

CARROT Cake Cookies Cookies ½ cup of unsalted butter 1 egg 1 egg yolk 1 cup of sugar (or ½ cup of brown sugar and ½ cup of white sugar) ¼ cup of cream cheese 2 teaspoons of cinnamon ½ teaspoon of baking powder ¼ teaspoon of salt 2 ¼ cups of shredded carrots 2 ¼ cups of all purpose ﬂour 3/4 cups of nuts, almonds or chocolate chips Few drops of vanilla extract Chocolate Drizzle 200g of chocolate 1 tablespoon of oil

Cookies Recipe Heat and melt the butter, then leave to cool. Place the egg, egg yolk, sugar and mix until it becomes ﬂuffy and all the ingredients come together. Add the cream cheese, vanilla, cinnamon, baking powder and salt into the mixture and whisk to combine. Add the shredded carrots to the composition and mix again. Add in the cooled butter and beat to combine. Fold ﬂour into the wet mixture. Place 2 dozen heaping tablespoons of cookie dough onto a baking sheet. Bake cookies for about 10-12 min at 150 °C/350F degrees. Cool the cookies on a wire rack before decorating. Chocolate Drizzle Recipe Chop the chocolate into small pieces, put them into a small pan with a tablespoon of oil. Heat on medium temperature until the chocolate starts to melt.

We probably could have relied on a professional to bring you Horoscopes elsewhere, but where’s the fun in that?? Plus, we assumed they were all too busy with winning the lottery and helping policemen to almost solve crimes. So, you’re stuck with me. For the past week, I spent the evening knee-deep in astral maps, connecting with the universe. I fathom none of it. Here you go:

Aries Aries have ram-like eyebrows and smug expressions. They should not be so smug because they are constantly clunking themselves in the skull. Cat Stevens’ “Hard Headed Woman” was probably an Aries. He or she rarely says one thing and does another. And if they do the wrong thing, they never discuss it. Never point this out to an Aries unless you want your kidneys pulled out through your sinuses. People run away when an Aries comes around. They know that if they don’t, the Aries will set them on ﬁre. Aries are never born. They just skip gaily from their mothers’ wombs. This may even involve rollerblades.

Taurus They are brooding emotion incarnate. One minute they’re up, the next they’re down, and before you know it, they’ve shot their favorite TV cast member in the kneecaps, just because they felt like it. They’re very earthy, which may mean they like to roll around with their nose in clover and sigh. They are generally tough to figure out because they answer every question with another question. Tauruses love happy movies where everyone is jolly and having fun, but they fight with waiters and get upset with billboards. They are impatient and pushy. Most Tauruses love conflict. If nothing is wrong, then that in itself is something wrong.

Cancer Despite their need to be everyone’s savior, they need little social interaction. Their home is like their very own Biodome, and they can remain indoors for months at a time. SWAT teams often show up, mistakenly thinking there’s a hostage situation. Cancers are always the ones appointed to take their drunken, drooling friends home. They will never excel in sports because they have to rest for ﬁfteen minutes every time they breathe. They don’t mind, since they plan to conduct their career from the comfort of their own bed. Cancers coin their own words when being reﬂective, which comes as no surprise that George W. Bush is a Cancer.

Gemini Geminus like to think that they are a half-and-half mixture of Socrates and Michelangelo, but in reality they’re more like a Prince and Bea Arthur combo. They pick ﬁghts with small children and moon people at weddings. Geminus drive funny cars. They rarely compete in the Olympics, but when they do, it is usually pool or air hockey. A bisexual Gemini is a walking double date. They speak very loudly in order to be heard. This is unfortunate as they are nearly always talking to themselves. They are frequently ambidextrous, which means that they can pick both sides of their noses at the same time.

Leo Leos will grab attention in any way they possibly can. They like to kiss mirrors a lot. They will interrupt conversations to talk, and they will place themselves bodily in the way of someone who’s trying to leave before the Leo is ﬁnished saying what he or she needs to say. All Leos want parades on their birthdays. They open doors by screaming at them and expect their clappers to applaud when they enter a room. Humility frightens Leos. Aquarians might hang posters of rock stars on their walls, Pisces of unicorns, and Capricorns of great mathematicians. Leos hang posters of themselves on their walls.

Virgo Virgos regulate their breathing and color-coordinate the clothes in their closet. Everything has its place, and theirs is on the ﬂoor scrubbing with a magnifying glass, checking for germs. Obsessive-compulsive disorder is a nice euphemism for the word ‘Virgo’. Tell them they have something between their teeth and they freak out. Virgos are cool though and will offer to do your laundry. They will put them in the washer in alphabetical order by name of manufacturer. Don’t ever put cheese where it doesn’t belong in a Virgo’s refrigerator. He or she will go all “The Shining” on your ass and you’ll be stabbed with a cuticle pusher.

Libra Libras are oh-so-elegant and tasteful to the point of incurring nausea from the loved ones. They are also bipolar as hell and can’t make a decision on their own. They constantly worry about what other people might think. Libras eat a lot of ethnic food from cultures they don’t understand and they single-handedly started the cappuccino movement. Only two Libras have ever been found in thrift stores. They don’t eat fast food or have any clue where their trash goes, but if you get a Libra as drunk as possible, he or she will still be able to explain the difference between café latté and café au lait.

Scorpio They got into computers early on, so most of the hackers are deﬁnitely Scorpios. Many of them have found ways to successfully smoke in the shower too. Their number-one grudge is about never having been abducted by aliens, or being the victim of a governmental conspiracy. It is still hard for them to accept that Star Trek is ﬁction. It’s no wonder that Halloween falls smack in the middle of the Scorpio range, since is the only time of year when fake hauntings, sugar-induced hysteria, and impersonating Dr. Who won’t get them arrested. Scorpios presumably cheat at the lottery, and if it’s automated, they can hack it too.

Sagittarius Sagittarians are born adventurers. They like smashing spiders with their bare hands and trying to walk to the bathroom in the middle of the night with the lights out. They love to entertain their friends, family and total strangers. This often includes transvestism. Sagittarians are loud and have poor social graces. Animals and small children love Sagittarians, but this is unfortunate since adults usually hate them. They throw food at expensive restaurants and ask lots of questions in the middle of church. A Sagittarius is always a better Madonna than the actual Madonna. Men can pull off sequins, and women can pull off construction helmets.

Capricorn Capricorns are hardworking, reliable and super smart more than often, which explains why they are such pains in the ass sometimes. In the event of nuclear war, only cockroaches and Capricorns would ﬁnd a way to survive. Their parents buy them books of law for Christmas so they can underline the loopholes. Capricorns are like a strange cross between a Leo and a Virgo, and they think this makes them both charismatic and logical. They love to be seen talking on their cell phones, even if they’re not always turned on. A reason why Capricorns presumably went out of style in 1989.

Aquarius The Aquarius loves a party anytime, anywhere, with anyone. It is not unlikely that an Aquarius will consider a wake a good place to meet chicks. They tend to be nostalgic about the 1960s because that was the last time they could be naked in public and get away with it. They use the phrase “Dude, man...” frequently when talking about profound concepts. Aquarians are the only people in the zodiac who can play volleyball by themselves. They can also walk on water if they try really, really hard. This usually happens in the bathtub. Most rock stars are known to be Aquarians.

Pisces Pisces are deeply confused by the idea of sex. As far as they’re concerned, if it didn’t happen in “The Velveteen Rabbit”, it doesn’t exist. They remember what they were wearing on March 3rd 1981, but forget their own mobile number. Pisces claim to want ‘honest criticism’ of their work, but then they commit harakiri when you say you don’t like it. They cry over dead animals on the road, but feel no remorse about mowing down people they don’t like. Never try to use logic with a Pisces. He or she is living about three feet off of the natural ground of Narnia.
