Lungi

The lungi ( )(luŋgi), also known as a sarong, is a traditional garment worn around the waist in Indonesia, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, Brunei, Malaysia, Nepal, Singapore, Thailand, the Horn of Africa and the southern Arabian Peninsula. It is particularly popular in regions where the heat and humidity create an unpleasant climate for trousers. The standard adult lungi is 115 cm in height and 200 cm in length, when open. They are normally woven from cotton and come in a variety of designs and colors. The most common styles are plaid, reflecting the relative ease and cost-effectiveness of producing these patterns on a power loom. Blue is particularly popular, since it fades to pleasant tones in contrast to other colors. Regardless of the design or color, lungis are often lined at the top and bottom with a black/white stripe containing reinforced weaving to prevent fraying.

Kantha

Kantha, also spelled kanta and qanta, is traditionaLembroidery in which worn-out fabrics are layered, joined, and hand-stitched into a single piece of cloth. It is made by women in Bangladesh and eastern India, especially in West Bengal, Tripura, and Odisha. The origin is to reinforce and reuse old saris. There are a variety of stitch designs, including simple ones made by straight running stitches, and others with motifs of nature, religion, or daily life. Depending on the design, usage, or region of making, they are called Nakshi Kantha, Lepkantha, Sujni Kantha, Lohori Kantha, and other names. Also, since various patterns fabrics are used and each of them is hand stitched, every quilt is one and only. Mainly these are made of cotton, but some are made of old silk fabrics. The quilts are used as baby swaddles, bedspreads, and so on, and are reversible.
