ustin Lee Partin, based out of Gainesville, Florida, has consistently created music that has captured the ear of country music enthusiasts near and far, growing his fan base and making a significant impact on the country music scene. One of the greatest compliments this latest voice on the country music scene gets is “hey, I have heard you before!” That is because this young singer/ songwriter from the small town of Branford, Florida has been listening and studying the “architects” of country music since he was a child.
J
Many aficionados say he has the raw and melodic voice of his heroes like Merle Haggard, Garth Brooks and Don Williams and has a complimentary style that rivals modern day giants Luke Bryan, Eric Church and Jason Aldean. From the time he picked up a guitar, Justin has seemed to channel the music of these great artists and honed it into his own distinct style. This young man of music has also lent his guitar-playing talent to other artists as well, which has helped him to broaden his career and shows his neverending passion for this industry.

ale Dodds, in addition to laying tracks in Music City, is making tracks on the road, opening for the likes of Brett Eldredge, Billy Currington and Sam Hunt. Cale has recently partnered with JustinBoots as “JustinAmerica Country Artist” and with AT&T U-verse for the Country Deep Tour with David Nail. Fans can check out Cale’s upcoming tour dates on caledodds.com and can hear Cale’s music, described by him as rooted in Country, Classic Rock and Pop, on iTunes. “It captures that ‘us against the world,’ concept,” Cale Dodds says of his debut EP, Wild and Reckless. “The title Wild and Reckless is about that desire for freedom and that endless ambition to fight for something more,” Cale says, while the album as a whole speaks to young love and its possibilities. “There’s no map…but there is that fire to chase it and try to find it.” Produced by Kyle Jacobs and Matt McClure (Lee Brice), Wild and Reckless was recorded at the renowned Ocean Way Recording Studios.

ance Carpenter, the big-hearted Arkansas farm kid with a voice to match, chose a career in service to others. Amid the considerable stress and turmoil attending that job, he found that the music he loved was able to quiet his mind and focus his heart. Slowly and often unintentionally, the power of crafting lyrics and melody drew Lance in a new direction. Eventually, he realized he’d returned to the exact place he’d started – the place he was meant to be all along. After a two-year hiatus to welcome her first child, Krystal Keith returns with a fivesong EP built on the solid foundation of
L
her widely acclaimed Show Dog Nashville debut album. The year-long development of Boulder expanded her creative circle even as it sharpened her focus as a singer, songwriter and artist. First out to fans and radio was duet “Anyone Else” with Krystal and Lance, which is generating significant streaming and airplay numbers. Their collaboration gets Toby Keith’s stamp of approval as well. “‘Anyone Else’ is a great song because it’s written like a classic,” he says. “I’ve been taking my songs in and listening to others’ songs in Nashville for more than 20 years. This one’s a first-time, soundslike-a-hit, written-like-a-hit listen.” June 16, 2018 • THE GREAT ATLANTIC COUNTRY MUSIC FEST • 7

8:40-10:00PM rett Bass, the founding member of GCM, was inspired to play guitar at age 11 when he heard the guitar solo in Ozzy Osbourne’s “Crazy Train”. He immersed himself into the world of heavy metal electric guitar playing, practicing for hours a day. It was at age 17 that he was bitten by the acoustic bug, hearing how bluegrass pickers were just as fast and technical as his favorite metal players. He began learning how to sing and play Johnny Cash songs, as well as how to pick bluegrass fiddle tunes. The first songs he ever wrote came out in the country/bluegrass style, so he ran

with it. The playing of his favorite bluegrass flat pickers, such as: Doc Watson, Bryan Sutton and Larry Keel became his new guitar inspirations, absorbing their styles through albums and instructional DVDs. His songwriting reflects the influence of the decidedly darker subject matter found in heavy metal music. Brett is the 2015 Rockygrass flat pick guitar champion and was asked several times to fill the rotating guitar position in The Travelin’ McCourys, before they hired Cody Kilby full time.
