Because love in the face of such hatred is the only way Because without love, buried so deeply within us, we cannot survive Because we need each other, my loves, at this dark moment in this dark place.

Very hot. Very still. The pandemic alone moves. Person to person. What worked against it is failing. We are failing. Not pulling together. Not holding the line. Not putting our neighbor before us. Not loving each other enough
t o r i s k w h a t w e h o l d d e a r
for those that we hold dear. No longer persuading. Just exasperating. Throwing up our hands. Throwing down the gauntlet. Storming the capitols. Settling for “I told you so” even as Death hoists its sickle over all our squabbling heads.
