How ‘Boom’ Was A Boon For Katrina Kaif: Tracing Kat’s Ascension In Bollywood The Kaizad Gustad directorial 'Boom' (2003) might have bombed at the box office but for Katrina Kaif, who was one of the three leading ladies of the film; it proved to be a boon in disguise. The actress, who has been in the news for her personal and professional life, got everyone talking from the get go. She is always making headlines in the celebrity gossip section of the leading dailies and various entertainment channels. Born in British Hong Kong, model-turnedactress, Katrina was spotted by filmmaker Kaizad Gustad at a fashion show in London and this led him to cast her in 'Boom', which turned out to be a critical and commercial failure. Kat made everyone sit up and take notice of her and she particularly caught actor Salman Khan’s eye, who is known to have introduced many newbies to the film industry. The two of them embarked on a personal relationship which showed its effect on their professional one as well. She went ahead to star in Khan’s home production, ‘Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya?’ which was just one of the many films that they starred in together. During the first phase of her career the actress who struggled with the Hindi language made inroads to the audiences hearts with films like, Ram Gopal Varma’s ‘Sarkar’, the Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Namaste London’, ‘Partner’ and ‘Singh Is Kinng’. Beginning with Namastey London, the year 2007 marked a turning point in her career when all four releases proved to be successful at the box-office. Among these were two of the highest grossing productions of the year, comedies Partner and Welcome. Later that year, she starred opposite Ranbir Kapoor in the comedy Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani which sparked her romance with the Kapoor lad and the two started seeing each other. Her next big ticket film came in the year 2012, where she played the role of a Pakistani ISI agent in the spy film ‘Ek Tha Tiger’, which became the highest-grossing Bollywood film of the year. The same year, Katrina Kaif starred alongside Shah Rukh Khan and http://www.follo.in
Anushka Sharma in ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’, a romance by Yash Chopra. Kaif played a circus performer opposite Aamir Khan in the 2013 action film ‘Dhoom 3’. With worldwide revenue of 5.42 billion rupees, Dhoom 3 went on to become the highestgrossing Bollywood film of all time at the time of its release. Post this Katrina played Hrithik Roshan's love interest in the 2014 action comedy ‘Bang Bang’! and starred alongside Saif Ali Khan in the 2015 thriller ‘Phantom’. The year 2016 opened with 'Fitoor' which fell short of everyone's expectations. This was followed by the recently released 'Baar Baar Dekho' in which she is paired with actor Sidharth Malhotra for the very first time. It’s too early to decide upon the fate of this film, hence we will let time take a call on this one.
In addition to being one of Bollywood's highest-paid actresses these days, Katrina is considered one of India's most attractive celebrities by the media. With films like ‘Tiger Zinda Hai’ and ‘Jagga Jasoos’ in her kitty, Katrina is picking up steam!
