The Biggest Fetish Street Fair in Europe Folsom Europe was established in 2003 in order to bring the non-profit leather festival concept pioneered by the Folsom Street Fair in San Francisco to Europe. In 2005 Berlin called the young event a “difficult case” worrying about issues of decency. Despite all obstacles the organisers held on to the concept and succeded.

The infamous then mayor of Berlin, Klaus Wowereit, saluted the festival in 2006 with the words: “An event such as Folsom Europe is just right for Berlin: As a meeting point for people from across the world, who visit a tolerant and cosmopolitan city to party and meet with likeminded folks and to raise funds for charitable causes and hence help to overcome prejudices.“ Today Folsom Europe is supported by the Berlin tourism board and is regarded as the most important leather / fetish street fair in Europe.
Since its first year in 2004, Folsom Europe has become a world-famous fetish event with a huge street fair and lots of parties. This year, Europe’s largest gay fetish event will take place on the weekend of September 11th-15th at various venues across Berlin. Thousands of guys in leather & fetish gear will be walking the streets in the Berlin-Schöneberg district. Expect a long weekend of fun, freedom and sleaze in one of the world‘s most vibrant capitals. Seit der erste Folsom Europe in 2004 hat sich das Event zu einem weltberühmten Fetisch-Event entwickelt. Der Street Fair auf der Schöneberger Fuggerstraße und die zahlreichen Partys gehören zu den beliebtesten Treffpunkten für FetischKerle aus aller Welt. Vom 11. bis 15. September werden tausende Männer in Leder & Fetisch-Gear in die pulsierende Metropole Berlin strömen und ihre Leidenschaft für Fetisch feiern. 1984 war die erste „Megahood: The Folsom Street Fair“ ein Teil eines großangelegten Projekts der größsten Hafenstadt im Westen der USA. Damals sollte die Gegend südlich des Hafens städtebaulich verändert werden. Bis in die Sechzigerjahre bot das Viertel „Resorts für Perverse“ sowie zahlreiche zwielichtige Bordelle und Zockerkneipen. Die Niederlassung vieler schwuler Unternehmer von damals gibt San Francisco noch heute Stabilität, Stil und Sex-Appeal. Ebenfalls hat das Fest die homosexuelle Bewegung in einem neuen, freieren Bild erscheinen lassen.

Mister B Celebrating 25 years of Fetish
The company was founded by the original Mister B himself Wim Bos in 1994, after a lot of experience in the scene and in retail Wim started his own shop in the Warmoestraat in Amsterdam. His goal was to make fetish more visible and accessible. He did this by creating a store with big open windows to the outside world which wasn’t done in that time. In the meantime the company grew with several brand stores and concept stores throughout Europe and of course the Wholesale company. After 23 years the then Marketing manager Nelson Sousa da Cunha who had been working at the company for 6 years was the perfect candidate to take over the company. So in July 2017 the change of owner happened. March 2nd 1994 the Mister B Flagship store opened on the Warmoesstraat in Amsterdam. In 1998 we started with the wholesale part of the company working from the office above the shop. Having outgrown the office at the Warmoesstraat the wholesale department relocated together with the warehouse to our current location in 2007. The Mister B store in Berlin Germany was opened in 2000. Then in 2005 having outgrown the shop in Nollendorfstrasse it then re-located to a new premises in the Motzstrasse 22 , giving Mister B an opportunity to offer an extensive range of products and services equal to our Amsterdam store, with a friendly and enthusiastic team to assist both locals and tourists alike. December 2014 saw the opening of Mister B’s only franchise in the heart of Antwerp, Belgium’s second largest city and fetish capital. In the last few years we’ve expanded our brand with 2 concept stores, one at Homoware in Copenhagen and
the second one at RAW Frankfurt. These concept stores have the same feel, assortment and experience as our own brand stores. In 2018 the iconic flagship store in Amsterdam has changed location after 25 years it was time for something new and we moved the store to a beautiful location on the canals in the heart of Amsterdam. This move gave us a change to try something different with the look and feel of the store. A lot of things have change in the scene as well as in the way people see and use their fetish. What we have noticed is that fetish in general has become more visible and accepted. Also the increase of younger guys into fetish is something that we welcome. What we see is that fetish is ever changing a part from the original Leatherman, we see a lot of colour and mixing of different fetishes as well as a fairly new fetish like Puppy play is very popular. Our team is always working on innovation of our assortment and looking for the newest products to help you realize your ultimate fantasy. To celebrate these last 25 years, Mister B is organizing several events throughout the years, at our stores and the main fetish events, like Leather & Fetish pride Belgium, Pride Amsterdam and Folsom Europe in Berlin. Das Unternehmen wurde 1994 von Wim Bos, dem ursprünglichen Mister „B“, gegründet, nachdem er viel Erfahrung in der Szene und im Einzelhandel gesammelt hatte. Mit dem Ziel, Fetisch sichtbarer und zugänglicher zu machen, eröffnete er ein Geschäft in der Warmoestraat in Amsterdam. Zu dieser Zeit noch außergewöhnlich baute er ein großes Fenster in sein Ladenlokal ein, damit den Passanten seine Fetischsachen besser auffielen. Inzwischen ist das Unternehmen um mehrere Stores in ganz Europa angewachsen und es wird auch Großhandel betrieben. Nach 23 Jahren ging die Leitung auf den damaligen Marketingdirektor Nelson Sousa da Cunha über, der bereits sechs Jahre im Unternehmen tätig war, um das Unternehmen weiterzuführen. So wechselte im Juli 2017 das Unternehmen den Eigentümer. Der Mister B Flagshipstore eröffnete seine Türe am 2. März 1994. Bereits vier Jahre später, im Jahr
1998, folgte der Großhandel. Damals arbeiteten wir im Büro oberhalb des Ladenlokals bis es schließlich zu klein wurde. So dass wir 2007 mit dem Lager an unseren heutigen Standort umzogen sind. Der Mister B Store in Berlin wurde im Jahr 2000 eröffnet und dort erging es uns ähnlich: 2005 war uns das Geschäft in der Nollendorfstraße zu klein geworden und wir zogen in ein neues Ladenlokal in die Motzstraße. Diesen Umzug ermöglichte Mister B ein noch umfangreicheres Produkt- und Dienstleistungsangebot anzubieten. Mit unserem freundlichen und enthusiastischen Team erhalten wir dort viel Unterstützung von den Berlinern und Stadttouristen gleichermaßen. Im Dezember 2014 wurde das einzige Franchise von Mister B im Herzen von Antwerpen, der zweitgrößten Stadt und Fetischhauptstadt Belgiens,
eröffnet. In den letzten Jahren haben wir unsere Marke um zwei Concept-Stores erweitert: einen bei Homoware in Kopenhagen und den anderen bei RAW in Frankfurt am Main. Diese Stores bieten das gleiche Sortiment und die gleiche Erfahrung wie in unseren eigenen Markenstores. Nach 25 Jahren, wechselte unser legendäre Flagshipstore seinen Standort im Juli 2018. Heute befindet sich unser Shop an einem schönen Ort im Herzen Amsterdams, direkt an den Grachten. Dieser Schritt gab uns die Möglichkeit, etwas anderes mit dem „look and feel“ des Ladenlokals auszuprobieren. In den letzten Jahren hat sich viel in der Szene verändert, ebenso wie in der Art und Weise, wie Menschen ihren Fetisch verstehen. Wir haben bemerkt, dass der Fetisch sichtbarer geworden ist und dass er immer mehr Akzeptanz in der Gesellschaft findet. Außerdem finden wir es sehr spannend, dass das Fetischpublikum immer jün-
ger wird. Heutzutage ist Fetisch viel mehr als nur „der Ledertyp“ – es wird bunter und gemischter. Um Euch zu helfen, Eure ultimative FetischFantasien zu verwirklichen, arbeitet unser Team ständig an der Innovation unseres Sortiments und sucht stets nach neuen Produkten. With food, beer and wine, you can also step to the beat of the live DJs! Each boat has an open upper deck and a covered lower deck. Come aboard, take the tour and see the splendid architecture of Berlin’s futuristic central station, the Federal Chancellery, Berlin Cathedral and Museum Island.
Die Stadtrundfahrt im Cabrio-Doppeldecker-Bus queer durch die Stadt ist mittlerweile ein fester Termin zu Folsom Europe geworden. Das Programm wurde speziell für die Gäste des Streetfairs entwickelt und führt in 2,5 bis 3 Stunden nicht nur zu den klassischen Sightseeing-Highlights, sondern macht auch interessante Umwege in die schwul-lesbische Geschichte Berlins. Europas Fetisch-Hauptstadt mal ganz anders erleben. Auf zwei Booten, die Platz für jeweils 200 Passagiere bieten heisst es am Folsom-Freitag „Fetisch Boot Ahoi“. Bei Speis‘ und Trank und Live-DJs bestimmt ihr das Tempo der Party. Beide Boote haben sowohl Unter- als auch Oberdeck. Die Tour führt an einigen der spektakulärsten Sehenswürdigkeiten der Stadt entlang, wie dem futuristischen Haupbahnhof, dem Berliner Dom, der Museumsinsel und dem historischen Nikolaiviertel.

The trip, which takes 2.5 – 3 hours, will not only take you to the city’s most interesting sights, but will also guide you through Berlin’s gay and lesbian history in German or English.

Aug. 27 “It all started with my visitors wanting photos of their bondage sessions,” says Frank, the man behind Rope-Phantasies. „Eventually, I realised that I wanted more beautiful, better pictures and bought myself some professional equipment. It took me some time, but under the guidance of a good friend who is a photographer, presentable images emerged from what had begun as a fetish.”

Starting at the end of August and continuing through Folsom Europe, around 40 pictures of young men in ropes will be adorning the café’s walls. These shall include some previously unpublished images as well as images of his double, triple and fourfold suspensions. Frank and his boys will also be hosting their own stand at the Folsom Europe street fair - this year for the sixth time. “When I asked the organisers of Folsom Europe if I could have my own stand space in 2014, I was actually a little scared afterwards,” Frank recalls. “But many of my visitors are happy to hang there defencelessly in front of so many people. The boys who hang at the stand in September are picked very early in the year. A lot of friends and regular bondage visitors of mine also help with setting up the stand. This way, together with the sponsors of Rope-Phantasies, the stand has been able to become more beautiful and bigger from year to year”.

„Es fing damit an, dass meine Besucher Fotos von ihren Fesselungen haben wollten“, erzählt Frank, der Mann hinter RopePhantasies. „Irgendwann wollte ich schönere, bessere Bilder haben, und habe mir eine professionelle Ausrüstung gekauft. Unter der Anleitung eines guten Freundes, der Fotograf ist, wurden langsam vorzeigbare Bilder aus dem, was als Fetisch begann.“ Ab Ende August und über Folsom Europe werden etwa 40 Bilder von jungen Männern in Seilen die Wände des Cafes verzieren. Darünter bisher unveröffentlichte Bilder und Bilder seiner Double-, Tripleund Fourfoldsuspensions. Auch auf dem Straßenfest von Folsom Europe wird Frank wieder mit seinen Jungs mit einem eigenen Stand vertreten sein, dieses Jahr zum sechsten Mal. „Als ich im Jahr 2014 die Organisatoren von Folsom Europe um eine eigene Standfläche gefragt habe, hatte ich danach schon etwas Angst“, erinnert sich Frank. „Aber viele meiner Besucher freuen sich, vor so vielen Menschen wehrlos zu hängen. Die Boys, die im September am Stand hängen, stehen schon alle sehr früh im Jahr fest. Auch helfen viele Freunde und regelmäßige Bondagebesucher von mir mit beim Standaufbau mit. So, und zusammen mit den Sponsoren von Rope-Phantasies, konnte der Stand von Jahr zu Jahr schöner und größer werden.“

In den letzten Jahren wurde für die internationale Puppy-Community verstärkt zu Folsom Europe diverse und spezielle Partys organisiert – so auch wieder 2019. Ein Highlight dabei ist die „In Dog We Trust“–Party in der Scheune. Ebenfalls schon traditionell ist am Sonntag das Puppy Breakfast im Brezel Berlin und die direkt danach stattfindende Folsom Puppy Walkies. Allein im letzten Jahr nahmen daran ungefähr 200 Puppys, Handler und Trainer teil. 2019 wird das Angebot um ein weiteres Highlight vergrössert. Berlin lädt zum Puppy-Contest: Erstmals wird in Berlin im Rahmen des Folsom EuropeWochenende ein Puppy-Contest organisiert, der im Anschluss der Folsom Puppy-Walkies, am eigens dafür organisierten Fetishboat statfindet. Dieser Contest wird von der Berliner Community, genauer von der kleine Kneipe Dreizehn, Easter Berlin und Scheune organisiert. Teilnehmen kann
jeder Puppy aus Deutschland und der weiten Welt. Puppy Sunday In recent years, the international puppy community has been organising a growing number of special parties for Folsom Europe. The „In Dog We Trust“ party held in Scheune is one of these highlights. The Puppy Breakfast at Brezel Berlin on Easter Sunday and the Folsom Puppy Walkies afterwards also belong to our puppy traditions in Berlin - last year alone, about 200 puppys, handlers and trainers took part in these fun events. In 2019, we will be expanding our offer yet again. For the very first time, as part of the Folsom Europe weekend, Berlin is holding a Puppy Contest and inviting you to join in!
