Our strategy is simple (we will be time warping our patrons down to every last detail); by offering a regular menu which will offer classic favorites such as loose meat tavern sandwiches, ripper dogs and BLT’s to name a few, we will also offer specials that are seasonal, affordable and of course the always popular good and old-fashioned ice cream parlor treats. Location The Retro Kitchen Inn is located approximately 63 miles SE of Pittsburgh PA along Route 30, (Lincoln Highway) midway between Greensburg, PA and Bedford, PA. They are located just inside the borough of Jenner town, PA. The branding colors are teal, pale yellow, watermelon & lime green. The floors will be of linoleum tile placed in a funky pattern, the table tops will be of boomerang Formica with stainless steel tableware, and mid-century vintage posters of all things American will hang on the walls. It will be a key food destination for an uplifting happy kitschy nostalgic experience that reminds us of the bygone eras through kitschy and all visual items that will only relate to the eras from the 1940’s – 1960’s. For example on a couple of small flat screens we will only be playing (muted) classic & fun loving movies that were seen between the eras from 1940’s – 1960’s. Other than the food being consistent to those times everything between the eras from 1940’s – 1960’s regarding our look and feel including our uniforms will too as well as the music, design décor, lighting, indoor/outdoor fixtures and branding logos reiterate this. Our 1# top priority is our friendly customer service which will be our most important concern always.
Marketing Strategy Listings will be placed in national, statewide and regional tourist guides, publications as well as online traveling blogs & foodie lovers. Strategic Ads will be placed in food & retro lifestyle online guides/apps as well as seek out free commercial news & television opportunities. Menus will be distributed to the local lodging establishments to encourage their guests to come and check out and I will be creating a “Wall of Fame” for locals and travelers’ alike who would like to post pictures of them in some dress up items that we will habe on hand to capture their best retro duds. Through Foodstart, we will raise $10,000 for general startup expenses (remodeling, inventory & marketing used kitchen equipment, furnishing, etc.) We also anticipate receiving a $60,000 SBA-backed loan from Key Bank that will go to the current business owner when we purchase this coming August 2013. The extra $10,000.00 will be our own $ as the down payment for the business mortgage. In year one we expect to generate over $75,000 in sales, $90,000 in sales by the end of year two, and net profits of over 7.5% on sales by the end of year three. About Benjamin & Christine Staley: husband and wife team, Ben and Christine Staley, who relocated to Jennerstown from Dania Beach, Florida in 2013, combined their experiences in television, food and other service industries to create a restaurant with a fun, nostalgic retro theme that complements the classic American food featured on the menu and her quirky sense of everything mid-century. “We always wanted to open a fun themed-n- yummy food experience, and when we moved up here, we realized this was the perfect location,” said Christine. “Our restaurant features good food in a unique atmosphere to dine in, walk up windows for you to enjoy at any of our outdoor picnic tables, or take with you.
