Team building through cooking and tasting is an alternative to rope climbing, golf outings and treasure hunts. It is an enjoyable opportunity to bring together employees from various departments in your organization, create an experience for them to meet and to work together as a team, and produce immediate and tangible results. Food & wine have always been a perfect way to bring people together. By cooking, drinking and eating together, teams can discover the ingredients for successful, effective performance.

For example if the goal is to work on problem-solving skills, participants could be given all of the ingredients for a recipe, but not all of the instructions. However, most groups prefer more loosely structured sessions for groups that want to spend time together and have fun.

Gastronomic Team Building / Competition

Program •

Beginning of the activities.

The group will be divided in several teams that will compete with each other. Each team will have to do several workshops and tests, in order to score for the winning place. The activities are 30 minutes long and they consist of: a formative activity and a blind tasting and / or a game to score points. The groups will participate simultaneously by turns in the different activities. The acquired knowledge during these activities, will allow each team to confront with the other ones. The Activities are: 1. The intuition: wine tasting workshop (Formative), a blind wine tasting and a wine quiz (Leisure activity – Competitive). 2. The tasting memory: cheese workshop (Formative), a blind cheese tasting and a cheese game (Leisure activity – Competitive). 3. In search of the Lost Sense: Aromas workshop (Formative) and a blind aromas test (Leisure activity – Competitive). 4. Hell’s kitchen: Tapas challenge: the basics of tapas 5. Xocolatl hunt: chocolate workshop (Formative) and a blind chocolate test (Leisure activity – Competitive). 6. The acorn hunt: cured meats During the whole time the participants will learn, taste and take part into work-groups, so

Gourmet Casino The pleasure of Tasting, the exhilarating world of Casinos, the satisfaction of learning while having fun,… Food & Wine casino is the answer. It is an enjoyable opportunity to bring together employees from various departments in your organization, create an experience for them to meet, and produce immediate and tangible results. This highly informative tastings blend a host of surprising information with challenge, participation and a good slice of humour! Participants are provided with some chips to allow them to play throughout animation, as real money must not circulate. The Game varies upon the number of game tables, duration and number of participants. • Wine Tasting Game: Make a blind taste of a wine, on a choice of possible of answers in front of you, make a bet!!

You will have to guess, and bet on a collection of scents related to wines from an aromas set. The player bets on a possible answer of one of our Wine Quiz questions. A crash course in wine knowledge for novices and a fun challenge for experts. The Wine Game Be a wine maker for one day Do you want to try making your own wine? Be a wine maker and take the right decisions with your team. Should you oak the wine, what is the right coupage,… This is the right team building for team work and product launch planning. It is said you learn more while playing. Try it with this game in the winery and the vineyard, based on several tests and experiments. Depending on the season, you can touch the “terroir”, taste the grapes from the vine, analyze the differences between grapes, the pruning types and you can even put your nose to the test… Play, have fun and learn! Gastronomic Treasure Hunt in Barcelona city centre An activity designed to test the gastronomic skills and knowledge of the participants. Each team will have to perform different test in order to score and to develop their sense of smell and taste, and their ability to cook. The competition will take place in different scenarios in Barcelona. Some of the gourmet shops in the boqueria market, and a restaurant. The group will be divided in different teams. Each team will have to do several activities and tests, in order to score for the winning place. Each team will be given a name or colour, a book with the instructions, the game rules, maps and the content of the tests. The activities are: • Gastronomic treasure hunt in the Boqueria market The teams will be given 5 tests, which they will do at the same time around the market. Each team will have to manage the distribution of task in order to perform each test with the given timing. 1. There will a series of questions to be solved, such as finding out the ingredients for a recipe, questions about the history of the Market,… 2. Other test will be based on tasting products of the Market • Restaurant in the City centre 1. Wine tasting 2. Blind chocolate tasting During 90 minutes the participants will learn, taste and take part into work-groups, so that everyone should meet everybody, while enjoying a gourmet experience. Cava Challenge Which is really better Cava or Champagne? Champagne is a sparkling wine made in the Champagne region of France according to the traditional champagne method. Cava is a sparkling wine made in Spain according to the traditional champagne method. So, what are their differences? Which one do you like better? During this activity you will learn their history, methods of production, different soil types used, the various grapes used, aging processes and most important their differences is taste, aromas and structure. The experience will be hosted by an experienced sommelier who will guide you through the different characteristics these wines have. After the workshop we will do a blind tasting of different cavas and champagnes to test our knowledge. You will taste 2 different cavas and 2 different champagnes. Tapas Challenge (History of Tapas, blind tasting, tapas dinner and contest) Work up your appetite for a Spanish-style feast—tapas! Our challenge starts with the history of tapas. After the explanations of our gastronomy specialist guide, the differences between tapas, pintxos, brochettes, raciones,… won’t no be a mystery to you any more. It is time to nimble on local delicacies; we will start with a blind tasting of several tapas, to test if you have listened to our specialist guide. Dinner is ready. Paella Challenge Roll up your sleeves and make wonderful home made paella! Paella is the most famous authentic national dish of Spain. Come learn how to prepare this wonderful dish The group will be divided in teams that will have to make the paella and sangria with a time limit. Once finished the paellas and sangrias are blind tasted and judged on different criteria by all the teams and the master chef. Tapas & Txacoli Challenge Txacoli is a type of sparkling white wine the proceeds from the Basque region. It is poured like cider but has a much tastier and refreshing taste. Txacoli is served by pouring the wine from the bottle about 1 meter above the glass. This aerates the wine and helps to release the flavour. Each team will need to aim their best for the winning place. During the competition it is best to stand a little further back when the person is pouring Txacoli as sometimes his aim can be a little off. The winning team will be the one that archives to waste less wine. After the wine competition each team will do its own cold pintxos (a type of tapas from the north of Spain). Tapas will be blind tasted and judged by all the teams and the master chef. The winning team will receive a bottle of txacoli with a nice gadget to pour it easier. After the competition there will be a tapas meal serve in an informal basque type restaurant in the city centre of Barcelona. Location: Barcelona: Barcelona City. Activities in the Vines Do you want to witness the harvest? And take part in it? You can help us participating in part of the wine making activity, the harvest or the pruning. The activities in the vineyard provide and enjoyable and different experience, out in the open, with the fresh air of the fields, where we will surely forget the stress of our daily lives! The tasks that can be done in the vineyard depend on the biological cycle of the vines. In January we can prune, in April observe the budding processes of the plants, and in September, harvest! The Harvest is the most cheerful and traditional task of the year in the wine growing world. Make your own Cava In Food & Wine Tours we've been able to link actual and fashion concepts as well as cava, rural tourism and the combination between modernity and tradition.

Disgorging of Cava The cava, after resting bottled at least during nine months and very often after a longest period of time, it takes place the disgorgement process. This process lets clean the wine of the yeast sediment by removing the cork. The liquid lost is replaced with wine of the year (dry or sweet) according to the preferences of the producer. Then the final cork is put in and the bottle goes to be labelled and dispatched. In the cellar you can choose the type of cava that you want to disgorge from different types of coupage and aging. Make your own Brandy with tasting course Use your creativity and make a work of art: make your own brany blend. This program consists of a complete visit to a Brandy cellar near Barcelona, an introduction tasting course of brandy tasting and the blending of different blends to make your own brandy.

Arrival to the cellar: complete visit of their premises. Our oenologist will explain the elaboration of Brandy through several samples of distillates (4-6 different distillates) until the final product with different aging methods (solera and static).
