What is Social Distancing?

Social distancing is nothing new. Health officials and physicians have long urged its practice to slow the spread of highly contagious diseases such as COVID-19. By reducing close contact of people who are not regularly together, social distancing can delay transmission of the disease and reduce infection, illness, and death. The most crucial defense is to cancel events and/or activities whenever possible, to minimize the number of participants at events that cannot be canceled, and to put space between individuals in public (Six feet is the distance advised.)
